CONTENTS: 1 - 5/16 Connector Assembly, 2 - Straight Pins, 1 - Clutch Drum, 1 - Circlip 12
NOTE: Do not bend or deform drive shafts while servicing them.
Never reuse old holes in drive shaft or shaft connector assembly.
1. Saw the old shaft connector assembly off drive shaft flush at shaft
connector end and remove all burrs. Lower drive shaft length
must be a minimum 57 in. after cutting.
2. Center punch the outside diameter of the shaft connector sleeve (A)
approximately 3/8 in. from the open end. Rotate the sleeve 90 degrees and
make a second center punch approximately 5/8 in. from the open end.
3. Slide the shaft connector assembly onto the lower drive shaft (B) as far as
it will go.
4. Drill through both center punches with a 5/64 in. drill. Finish the holes with
a #40 (.098 in.) drill.
5. Countersink one end of each hole with a 1/8 in. drill to a depth of 1/32 in.
6. Tap in straight pins (C) (P/N V620000000) through both holes. Peen the
small end of pins in each countersunk hole to properly hold pins.
7. Remove the fan cover.
8. Remove holder retaining circlip (D) with Echo retaining ring pliers
P/N 91013.
9. Apply oil around the cushion so that it can be removed easily.
10. Lightly snug bolt (E), which secures drive shaft cushion adaptors.
11. Clamp bolt (E) in vise.
NOTE: Cover the bolt with a cloth to prevent damage.
12. Hold fan cover with both hands, pull and rock fan cover from cushion.
NOTE: The cushion is taper-shaped. When it is hard to pull out, apply oil
again.
13. Remove circlip (F) from clutch drum shaft, with Echo retaining ring pliers
P/N 91011.
14. Push out clutch drum (G) using 10 mm (0.4 in.) diameter pusher. If the fan
cover is damaged at the large retaining ring grove, order complete fan
cover assembly P/N P021006670.
15. Apply oil to new clutch drum bearing shaft and carefully press clutch
drum into fan cover bearing until seated.
CAUTION: Lack of lubricant and/or over pressing clutch drum may result
in a cracked fan cover.
16. Install new circlip (F) onto clutch drum shaft retention groove with the
circlip flat edge positioned out towards drive shaft.
NOTE: Be sure circlip is properly seated. Apply oil and assemble drive
shaft adaptor cushion into fan cover.
17. Install circlip (D).
