General Service Information and Requirements
WARNING: Only trained personnel who have a thorough knowledge of automotive fuel
systems, the proper tools and an appropriate work space should perform repairs to a vehicle's
fuel system.
WARRANTY NOTE: Read the warranty information found in the DENSO First Time Fit fuel
pump application catalog completely.
WARRANTY NOTE: It is necessary to install a new fuel pump filter to maintain the DENSO
First Time Fit warranty on the replacement fuel pump. In addition, DENSO recommends
replacement of all other fuel filters in the vehicle's fuel system. Follow the vehicle manufacturer's
recommended procedures and all vehicle manufacturer's safety precautions to replace these
fuel filters.

    • Do not smoke or work near an open flame or sparks when working on the fuel system. Pump Installation Requirements The DENSO First Time Fit fuel pump kit includes the following components:  WARNING This rotary fuel injection pump WILL NOT work on carbureted fuel systems. It is for electronic fuel injection only.
  • Página 3 FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS NOTE: The word “module” used throughout these instructions means fuel pump module. I. PREPARATIONS Relieve fuel system pressure. (This procedure is necessary since the fuel system can retain gasoline under pressure for a considerable period of time. Opening a pressurized line could spray fuel creating a risk of fire and/or personal injury.) Start the engine.
  • Página 4 IV. REMOVE FUEL PUMP FROM MODULE NOTE: Damage can occur to the filter attachment hub on the module during this step. Caution is advised! Filter is secured to module hub with a metal retaining clip. Use a side to side prying ac- tion with a screwdriver to pry filter from the module hub.

    D) Place the tank seal into the tank opening. Route the pump wiring harness through the tank opening and reattach the electrical harness to the evaporative loss flange. Seat the flange into the opening and secure with the lock ring. VII.
