IV. REMOVE FUEL PUMP FROM MODULE
NOTE: Damage can occur to the filter attachment hub on the module during this step. Caution
is advised!
A)
Filter is secured to module hub with a metal retaining clip. Use a side to side prying ac-
tion with a screwdriver to pry filter from the module hub. Once the filter is off remove any
dirt or debris from the module hub. Press the new filter onto the module hub completely
so that the top of the filler neck rests against the module bottom.
B)
Insert 2 small pocket screwdrivers into the slots at the top of the module assembly at
approximately 180 degrees apart. Pry up on the screwdrivers until the module top is
released from the module bottom.
C) Remove the old pump from the module top. Disconnect terminals from the pump.
Carefully remove the rubber isolator and metal ring on the pump bottom. These parts will
be re-used.
Discard the old pump.
D) Remove the clamp that
secures the return line fil-
ter to the underside of the
module top. Discard the
old filter. Place the clamp
around the new filter,
place the filter on the hub
and position the clamp
around the filter to secure.
See Fig. 2
V. INSTALL NEW PUMP IN
MODULE
Clean any dirt or debris from
the inside of the module before
proceeding. The pump warranty
will be void if the cause of pump
failure is determined to be a dirty
fuel system.
A)
Install terminals from
module on new pump.
Insert pump into module
top, noting alignment of
outlet fitting and orienta-
tion knob into module top.
Install the rubber isolator
and metal ring onto the
new pump bottom.
B)
Align pump bottom in
pocket in module bottom and tube on module top with tube on module bottom and snap
the module together. Assure all tabs on module top engage all slots in module bottom.
VI. INSTALL MODULE IN FUEL TANK
A)
Install the rubber mounting boot into the support bracket in the tank, aligning the slots of
the boot with the tabs of the support bracket.
B)
Insert the module into the rubber mounting boot, making sure the tabs of the module
snap into the slots of the boot.
C) Using tools that will not cause sparks, reach into the tank and reattach the fuel hoses to
the module. Be sure the hoses do not interfere with the float arm operation.
