1. INSTaLLING THE BaTTErIES
This tool requires 3 new AAA (LR03) batteries . To install
or replace the batteries, locate the battery door on
the lower backside of the tool . Using a Phillips size #1
screwdriver, unscrew the screw and lift up the battery door
compartment . Remove old batteries, if needed, and insert
three new AAA batteries, matching the positive (+) and
negative (–) terminals according to the diagram on tool .
Lower battery door and screw battery door back into place .
Low Battery Indication: The Battery Strength Indicator
icon displays the battery level . When the battery level is
too low for proper operation of the MetalliScanner
the last segment of the battery icon will flash and the letters
"LO" will be displayed in the numeric area of the display .
Please replace all three AAA batteries with a new set as the
tool will not operate when the battery level is too low .
2. poWErING oN/oFF THE TooL
To power on the tool, press any of the three black buttons located under the display . To power
off the tool, press and hold the CAL button for approximately 4 seconds . The tool will also
automatically power off if no change in signal strength is detected for 3 minutes .
Upon very first power on, the Sound will be on, the Sensitivity level will be 1, and the Metric Unit
will be in millimeters (mm) display mode .
Note: Upon each subsequent power on, the tool will always default to the lowest Sensitivity
level of 1, but will retain the last Sound and Unit setting before the tool was powered off.
Removing the batteries will cause the tool to revert back to its factory default settings.
3. BUTToNS
Sound Button: Toggles between sound ON and sound OFF . Upon first power on,
the tool will wake up with sound ON .
CAL (Calibration) Button: Forces the auto calibration function to be performed .

The LCD displays the letters "CAL" on the display during calibration . Pressing the
CAL button down for 4 seconds will power off the tool .
Sensitivity Button: Changes the metal sensitivity of the tool from Low (1) to
Medium (2) to High (3) and back down again . The tool will always wake up in the
Low sensitivity setting .

Unit Buttons: When the CAL and Sensitivity buttons are pressed
simultaneously, the tool will toggle between millimeter display
units to inches . Upon first power on, the tool will wake up in millimeter
display mode .
