To open the hatch to attach the handle, press upwards
on the dimpled area and lift up gently .
Align the handle so that the button on the tip of the handle is flush
against the hatch door . Push down gently until it snaps securely in place .
To remove the handle, hold the tool down with one hand and pull the base of the handle upwards .
To attach the optional extension pole, assemble the pole pieces together first and then align the
threaded end of the pole to the top of the included handle and screw into place . Then follow the
steps above to attach, and remove, the pivoting handle attachment with the optional extension
pole to the tool .

7. opEraTIoN

1 . To enable the integrated marking system,
lift the yellow cover protecting the
marking stamp on the underside of
the tool (located behind the center of the
display) . Gently snap the lid into the
designated compartment so that it is flush
against the bottom of the tool and the
marker is exposed .
2 . Power on the tool by pressing any of the three buttons . The display will temporarily flash with all
the LCD segments and the tool will automatically calibrate . During the calibration sequence, the
letters "CAL" will be displayed in the Numeric Depth Indicator area on the display .
3 . To toggle the Sound on and off, press the Sound button . When the sound is turned ON, the LCD
will display
4 . To change the metric unit from millimeters (mm) to inches (in), press the CAL and Sensitivity
buttons simultaneously .
5 . Place the tool against the surface to be scanned, away from metal, if possible .
6 . Press the CAL button to perform the calibration process . The letters "CAL" will be displayed in the
numeric area of the display . Do not move the tool until the words disappear, to indicate that the
calibration process has been completed .
7 . Slowly slide the unit across the surface .
8 . As the tool nears metal, the magnetic symbol will appear, indicating
(steel, iron, etc .) is detected or
The Numeric values will decrease, indicating approximately how far the tool is from the center of
the target while the Relative Signal Strength Indicator bars will increase (pairs of bars will turn on
from the outside inward) .
