UV-C MULTIMAX 5W - 9W - 11W
Before installing this appartus, please read
the instructions very carefully.
OPERATING
This UV-C device keeps your pond clear and your fish healthy. Using a pump, the pond
water is conducted through the UV-C device where it is exposed to the UV-C radiation.
This radiation is produced by a special lamp and it ensures that bacteria and disease
germs do not have a chance to develop. Also free swimming algae are destroyed by
the radiation guaranteeing that your pond water is clear. To achieve optimum results,
normally keep the unit switched on 24 hours a day except during periods of frosty
weather.
Multimax ALU: the interior parts of this Multimax model are made of aluminium.
Because the aluminium reflects 40 to 60% of the UV-C radiation, the UV effect will be as
much as 40 to 60% higher. The Multimax ALU is suitable for freshwater applications.
INSTALLATION
Never submerge this device in water. The ideal location to install your device is
immediately behind the filter. See schematic representation in the front of the manual.
Always install it on the outside of the pond. Ensure that there is always water flowing
through the unit when the lamp is on. Always put the unit plug in a socket with an
emergency cut out. Never leave the plug in wet grass or on wet surfaces. When using
medicines, the device must be disconnected.
1.
Determine the desired location for the unit and secure the unit using the supports
(A).
2.
Saw the transparent hose connections (B) to the required diameter and screw
them, including the rubber sealing rings (C), onto the device (D).
3.
Unscrew the electric part (E) of the housing (D) and install the lamp (F) in the lamp
holder (G).
4.
Screw the electric part (E) back on the housing (D) and attach the hoses using hose
clamps (not included).
5.
Operate the pump and check the system for free water flow and leaks.
6.
Operate the UV-C device and check if the light is on. You can see the light through
the transparent connectors.
DISMANTELLING
Before maintenance, or dismantelling, of the device, always disconnect the electrical
power from the mains. The device must be cleaned twice a year. When the algae
growth and/or calcium deposits increase, the quartz glass tube (H) and the interior
parts (stainless steel) must be cleaned. The UV-C lamp must be replaced after a
maximum of 9.000 burning hours. With a continuous use, this must be once a year.
1.
Loosen the hoses and let the water run out of the unit.
2.
Unscrew the electric part (E) with the unit bulb and replace the lamp (F) if
necessary.
3.
Carefully remove the quartz glass, using for example a coin. Never use force!
4.
Clean the quartz glass using appropriate cleaning materials. Always use a soft
cloth to avoid scratching the quartz.
5.
When replacing the quartz in the housing unit ensure that the sealing rings (I) are
correctly positioned.
6.
It is recommended to clean the aluminium interior parts several times a year using
a small brush.
