Figure 4
8.
Install Hitch – Tape spacer blocks (item 9) to end panel aligning holes in blocks with weldnuts in bumper beam. Raise hitch into position and loosely install (4) M8 bolts and 3/8"
conical washers supplied, (2) per side. See Figure 1. Using a ½" drill bit and the hitch as a template, drill a ½" hole in bottom of frame at center of slot in hitch, both sides. Remove
rubber plug from forward access hole in bottom of frame, (1) per side. Feed coiled end of fishwire through drilled hole and out of forward access hole. Attach 7/16" carriage bolt and
¼" spacer block to fishwire and pull fasteners into position, both sides. See Figure 2. Loosely install the 7/16" conical washers and hex nuts onto carriage bolts, (2) places. Tighten all
fasteners to specifications below.
Tighten all M8-1.25 CL10.9 fasteners with torque wrench to 27 Lb.-Ft. (37 N*M)
Tighten all 7/16-14 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
9.
Trim Lower Fascia – Using a tape measure, marker, and utility knife, cut a 5" wide X 3" deep notch in the bottom center of fascia. See Figure 3. Using a utility knife, carefully remove
the (2) raised areas, used to connect plastic support brackets, flush to inside surface of lower fascia. See Figure 4.
10. Reinstall Lower Fascia – Reinstall lower fascia aligning tabs in lower fascia with upper fascia and snap into place.
11. Reinstall Taillights and Wiring – Using the original hardware, reinstall taillights and reconnect wiring. Reinstall small access panels.
12. Install Cable Ties – Measure 13" from center of vehicle and 2-1/4" from forward edge of lower fascia and drill a ¼" hole through fascia. Install cable tie (item 10) through hole,
around hitch crosstube, and tighten cable tie. Trim excess length from cable tie. Both sides. See Figure 3.
13. Reinstall Underbody Panel – Using original fasteners removed in step 1.
Note: Check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe
safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation
