Before installing new faucet make sure that the cartridge nuts (11) are in place.
The cartridge (12) and cartridge nuts were properly installed and tested before
leaving the factory. Although it is unlikely, it is nevertheless possible that
through the handling of the valve by any number of persons the cartridge nuts
may not be properly installed. This should be carefully checked at time of
installation. If the cartridge nuts are not properly installed, water pressure could
force the cartridge out of the casting. Personal injury or water damage to the
premises could result. Using a cartridge removal tool (not included), unscrew
the escutcheon adjuster (10) and check to see that cartridge nut (11) is tight.
NOTE: When top of valve body (16) is flush with locknut (13), valve body outlet
ports will be 3-1/2" below finished deck. Valve locknuts and retaining ring (23)
are to be on the same plane.

Apply a bead of plumber's putty (not supplied) on the finished tub base
around the mounting shank and under spout escutcheon.
CAUTION: See template above for roll pin location. Drill a 7/32" hole

into tub base. Install spout escutcheon (24) with roll pin.

4. Remove phillips head screw (8) and replace white colored stem extension with khaki colored stem
extension (supplied with trim kit). Temporarily place handle assembly onto stem extension (9)
making sure that lever handles point 180° away from spout. If handle rotation is not at desired
side, remove and rotate stem extension 180°. Reinstall screw (8) and apply a bead of plumber's

putty (not supplied) under escutcheons (7). Drop on escutcheons. Place handle assembly onto
stem extension (9) holding the lever (1) with one hand and hand tighten handle skirt (6) clockwise.
Installation is now complete.
Alignment tip: Temporarily place handle assembly onto stem extension (9) making sure that lever
handles stop and point 180˚ away from spout.

1. TO INSTALL VALVE BODY:
Drill a 7/8" diameter center hole in the mounting surface for the spout
shank and two 1-3/16" diameter holes 5" on either side of the center hole
for each valve body.
Remove escutcheon adjuster (10) and turn valve mounting nuts (15) and
spout shank mounting nut (18) all the way down for clearance. Drop
mounting washers (14) on valve bodies and 1 mounting washer (22) or
bracket (20) onto spout shank.
2. Insert assembly up through deck holes. Drop 1 mounting washer (22) on
spout shank and insert retaining ring (23) onto spout shank. Install
locknuts (13) on valve bodies so that top of valve body is flush with top of
mounting nuts (nut to be fully engaged). Tighten nuts on shank and
valve bodies from below using a basin wrench. Reinstall escutcheon
adjuster (10).
Connect supply lines. Proceed to install trim.
3. INSTALL TRIM
Open trim package and check to see that all parts for the tub filler

Install tub spout first. If needed, with a pipe cutter or hacksaw, cut the

mounting shank to required height (2" [51mm] to 3" [76mm]) above
finished deck.
CAUTION: Remove burrs and bevel end of shank. Failure to do so
!
may result in damaged spout o-ring during spout installation.
Slide spout trim ring, trim ring gasket and spout skirt onto spout, taking care
not to damage the trim ring gasket. With the spout escutcheon in place,
install entire assembly over top of the mounting shank. With the spout and
roll pin in position, install set screw with 5/32" hex wrench. Insert plug button
into spout skirt after tightening set screw.
NOTE: Spout skirt, set screw and plug button can be installed to face front
or back of spout.
