8 TROUBLESHOOTING
8.1 Installation in Windows 8 and higher
The installation of DSPLink in Windows 8 might report an error if the system is not
allowed to install drivers that are not digitally signed.
In order to successfully install the software it is necessary to perform the following
actions:
1. Press Windows Key + R
2. Enter "shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 0" – this tells the computer to restart and prompt
how you want to start
3. Click the "OK"
4. The system will restart to a menu allowing you to change how it boots.
5. Select "Troubleshoot"
6. Select "Advanced options"
7. Select "Windows Startup Settings" – this will restart Windows and let us
change the boot options
8. Click "Restart" button
9. System will restart to "Advanced Boot Options" screen
10. Select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" – this tells the computer to boot
without forcing signed drivers.
11. Reboot the computer and install DSPLink using the installer.
This is a one-time action, and must be repeated if the software should be reinstalled
again. Your system will not be affected by this operation.
8.2 Password recovery
The unit is shipped unlocked, so no password will be necessary unless the unit is
locked by the user. The default user password is "Password".
In case this Password has been changed by the user (Using the Menu "Hardware >
Configure > Change Password") and is no longer remembered, a Firmware Upgrade
is needed to re-establish the password to the default value. To do the firmware
upgrade, proceed as following:
WARNING: In the Firmware Upgrade Process all your presets will be erased. Please
make a backup of them before upgrading the unit. Firmware versions 10.0.4 and later
will perform this backup automatically.
1. Connect the unit to the computer
2. Using DSPLink, enter the Device Main Window
3. [Optional] Make a backup of your presets with "Hardware > Backup Presets"
4. Choose "Hardware > Enter Password"
5. Enter the administrator password, which is "Ad_min"
6. Go to "Hardware > Firmware Upgrade"
7. Follow the on-screen instructions
8. [Optional] Restore your presets with "Hardware > Restore Presets"
