INSTALLING THE BATTERIES
Confirm that the switch is in the OFF position.
The batteries or storage cells must be installed by an adult. Equip yourself with a screwdriver.
Unscrew and remove the cover of the battery compartment. Insert the batteries (sold separately) so that they correspond to the polarity diagram (+/-) inside the compartment.
Type of batteries to use: 4 LR6 / Rated voltage: 6V / direct current. Return the cover and tighten the screw.
TO SEW:
- Confirm that the switch is in the OFF position.
Ask an adult to connect the pedal
to the pedal connection socket .
13
Lift up the presser foot
by lifting up the lever
that is located in back of the machine. Place the fabric under the presser foot in the position where you wish to start sewing
and pull down the lever. Switch on your machine on the slow setting
(L).
Firmly place your fingers on each side of the fabric to ensure control over the direction of the stitches. Lightly press on the pedal
to start sewing. Slide the fabric through at a
slow, regular rate. Do not try to force the fabric as it is fed, as doing so could damage the needle.
Next, try to sew a corner of the fabric. Position your fingers on the fabric as previously indicated and gently turn the fabric with your fingers to the left or right, by controlling the
operation with your fingers.
Stop sewing just before reaching the edge of the fabric.
Shut off the machine (1) (OFF) when the stitches are done.
13
Lift the needle above the presser foot
by turning the flywheel . Lift the presser foot using the lever
and remove the fabric from the sewing machine. Cut the thread
approximately 10 cm from the edge. Ask for help from your parents to cut the thread.
THREADING THE SEWING MACHINE — Diagram A (to be done by an adult):
- Confirm that the switch is in the OFF position.
12
Place a spool on the stand . To do so, first remove the fastening pin
and the spring. Place the spool on the pin, and then put back the spring and the pin. Lower the presser foot
and lift the needle to its highest position by manually turning the flywheel . Push the needle's safety mechanism
towards the back. Thread the sewing machine as shown
in the sewing machine diagram. Thread the needle and then pass the thread under the presser foot and pull it to the back, leaving approximately 20 cm. Once this operation is
done, it is IMPERATIVE to close the safety mechanism again. The thread of the spool that is located in the spool housing must also be pulled towards the back of the machine.
SPOOL REWINDING — Diagram B:
When there is no longer any thread on your spool , you may rewind some thread on it. Take out the telescopic reel holder
located on the machine and place a full spool of
thread on it. Pull out the pin
located in the middle of the flywheel by pressing on it and turning it towards you. Place your empty spool on it. Wind the thread several times
counter clockwise around your empty spool, and then place the spool on the pin. Using the slow setting
(L), switch on your machine and then gently press on the pedal. To
make rewinding easier, guide the thread using your finger.
Once you are done rewinding,
turn off the machine (OFF).
REPLACEMENT OF THE SPOOL
- Confirm that the switch is in the OFF position.
. Insert the spool, with the thread oriented counter clockwise.
Lift the presser foot and remove the slide plate from the spool housing
11
Turn the flywheel towards you until the needle is again completely visible. Lift up the presser foot. Gently pull the top thread to the back, in order to draw the thread from the spool
from below. Pull both threads to the back of the presser foot, leaving approximately 20 cm.
