OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
SERIE CX
4) Do not lift the pump by pulling on the power cable or the delivery pipe/hose. A suitable lifting
system (rope or chain) must be used.
5) The pump is designed to operate partially or fully submerged. Avoid running the pump dry for
extended periods of time.
6) As a general rule, top drive pumps to a level above the suction screen. Pumping at a lower level
will allow air to enter the pump, causing it to cavitate, de-prime or run dry within an air bubble.
7) Running the pump dry for extended periods of time can damage the seals and overheat the
motor.
8) Never place the pump on a loose or soft base. The pump may sink or tip over, preventing water
from reaching the impeller. Always place the pump on a solid surface or suspend it by a rope or
chain.
9) Do not remove the screen to prevent large solids from jamming the impeller. Any spherical
solids passing through the screen should be able to pass through the pump.
10) For maximum pumping capacity, use the appropriate size of non-collapsible hose or rigid pipe.
A check valve may be installed downstream of the drive to prevent water hammer when the pump
stops.

5. ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

1) The pump must be connected to the terminals or to a starting device at a level that cannot be
reached by water.
2) All electrical equipment must always be earthed. This applies to the pump as well as to any
monitoring device.
3) The electrical installation must comply with local and national regulations.
4) Check that the mains voltage and frequency match those given on the motor nameplate.
6. OPERATION
1) Before starting: check the direction of rotation of the pump. At start-up, the pump will jerk
counter-clockwise when viewed from above. If the direction of rotation is incorrect, exchange two
phases.
2) Reversal of the direction of rotation in a connection which does not have a phase transposition
mechanism should only be carried out by authorised personnel.
3) If the internal motor protection trips, the pump will stop but will restart automatically when it
has cooled down.

7. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

The pump must be disconnected from the power supply before any operation or maintenance is
carried out.
For a complete overhaul of the pump, please contact the supplier who supplied the equipment.
Maintenance should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
1) The pump must be disconnected from the power supply before any operation or maintenance
is carried out.
2) The pump should be inspected regularly for wear and tear.
3) If the pump is operating in a harsh environment, such as pumping abrasive solids or water with
high or low pH, more frequent inspections should be carried out.
