GENERAL NOTICES AND WARNIGS - To be respected when the application is possibile.
Read carefully before using the appliances
Installation: all installation, maintenance and/or modification of these control units and their devices must be carried out by qualified technical staff. These operations can be subject to specific
technical Standards which must be complied with. The device is envisioned to be used exclusively inside buildings protected from exposure to very high and very low temperatures as well as
tampering by children and/or persons without common sense for the purpose and effects of the Civil Code.
Batteries Rechargeable accumulators and/or batteries of any type: these appliances use accumulators or batteries, which are potentially dangerous as they are pollutant, therefore
dangerous to the health of the public. Replace the accumulators and/or batteries exclusively with same models, position and connect them respecting the polarity indicated in the instructions. It
is mandatory to dispose of accumulators/waste batteries according to the Standards in force. This is also the case when the machines must be scrapped. The accumulators/batteries must be
previously removed, returning them to the appliance dealer or depositing them in the relevant containers made available by the distribution network. If liquid should escape from the batteries or
accumulators, use silicone gloves to protect the hands and prevent injury.
Liability: the manufacturer declines all liability consequent to incorrect installation and/or failure to use the devices supplied.
Warranty: the warranty is valid until the expiry written on the label inside the device in the terms envisioned by the Vienna Convention of 1980 regarding the International Sale of Goods.
Copyright: all rights relative to this manual are the property of Silentron s.p.a. It is prohibited to partially or totally reproduce the texts and imaged herein, as is the introduction into W.E.B.
network and/or public distribution with any means.
Standard conformity: more of CE declaration, the products are in compliance with EN 50131-1 - environmental class 4 IP 65 and they are declared of category I by the standard 300.220 - 1

NOTICES REGARDING USE AND INSTALLATION:
Silent Pir is a passive infrared detector which has been conceived to signal the approach of a human being or similar in motion within the
protected area, and has been developed for use in outdoor areas, in order to supply an anti-aggression pre-alarm in such way to give a certain
time to react to those persons which are at the inside of the rooms. The security and protection features of the device are similar to these of
equivalent passive detectors for indoor use, therefore they must not be compared to outdoor military protection systems, which definitely have
far higher costs and besides require very invasive installations. Therefore Silent Pir is an excellent compromise between cost/performance to
achieve the protection purposes.
The installation in outdoor areas is unavoidably subject to weather conditions a/o occasional moves (any kind of animals, sudden
lights, temperature exposures, wind) such to provoke improper alarms, so its use has to consider the following possibility:
the device must be installed in such way not to directly activate the sirens of the system, but just to supply a local signal to the residents who,
upon verification, may activate general alarm manually. An installation which takes into consideration predictable phenomena cause of improper
alarms, will sure avoid the biggest part of these: professional competence of the installer is fundamental to this aim.
Installation in AND: this consists in an installation of two detectors in opposite position but used to protect the same area: alarm will be
originated when both the detectors signal an intrusion within 30 seconds one from the other. This solution drastically reduces improper alarms,
so assuring better functioning of the carried out protection. Almost all Silentron control units and receivers contemplate the "AND" function: see
the specific programming instructions.
Signalling of approach (picture 8): use the detector in parallel to ground at proper height (0,5-1m) and point it towards the free crossing areas
or the accesses of the rooms to be protected.
Protection of doors and windows (picture 9): use the detector "curtain wise" (pulse count on 1) and fix it to the wall at such height not to
detect walking pets.
Camouflage: Silent Pir installed outdoors may be subject to tampering. Besides the self protection which the detector is equipped with, it is
recommendable to make use of any possible favourable conditions which will allow to hide or at least not to reach the device.
FUNCTIONING
Generalities: the device is working on a lithium battery and transmits alarm via radio, so it does not require any connection wires. Upon each
alarm the device will remain temporarily blocked with subsequent reactivation after 2 minutes of absence of moves in the area. The device is
compatible to any Silentron control unit and receiver on sale.
Anti-masking: an obstacle situated in front of the detector and such to obstruct the functionality of the device will trigger transmission of
tampering alarm (see picture 4). Attention: direct sunlight on the lens may originate improper tampering alarms; in this case the anti-masking
function will have to be excluded (jumper E).
Test: by provoking tampering alarm (move away magnet B or mask the lens) test function will be activated. In test temporary block of
functioning is excluded: each move is shown from the alarm transmission led. After 2 minutes of quiet in the protected area the detector will
return to normal functioning.
Protection against removal: possible only by fixing the special magnet "B" as shown in picture 5 or by installing the protection cap (picture 6 –
part number 5970) complete with magnet. If the magnet is not installed (joint - picture 7) the protection against removal is automatically
excluded.
Supervision: SILENT PIR transmits a supervision signal each 22 minutes. This signal is managed from SILENTRON supervised control units
(see supervision function of the relevant control unit).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURES – please follow step by step
•
Choose where to install the detector and how to position it (horizontally–vertically), by keeping in mind the asymmetry of the fanwise
protection given by the lens.
•
Adjust sensitivity accordingly (2m = 50% - 6m = 70/90%). It has to be higher in case of "curtain wise" protection.
•
According to the type of installation select the anti-masking function.
•
Select the required pulse count F: usually "A" (x1) for "curtain wise" protection and "B" (x3) for horizontal "fanwise" protection.
•
Prearrange the control unit and/or receiver for programming: by inserting the battery into the detector code transmission will be obtained.
•
Close detector and wait for about 3 min. for correct functioning.
•
In order to assure protection level IP 65 the screws will have to be tightened very well, with check of the cover to be closed correctly.
•
Temporarily position the device at the chosen place of installation. Activate the test function by moving magnet "B" close to reed "C", and
check radio range as well as intrusion signalling in the protected area. If necessary open the detector and make required adjustments.
•
Fix the device with its magnet or with the joint or with the protection cap (including anti-removal magnet) depending on the type of
protection required and the local installation possibilities.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Power supply: 3,6V 2,2Ah lithium battery. Consumption: 14µA in stand by - 20mA during transmission – Over 2 years autonomy – local
signalling of low battery (led flashing for about 10 sec.) and its transmission to the control unit.
Functions: detection of human moves and alarm transmission via radio – sensitivity and pulse count adjustments – temperature self
compensation - alarm transmission in case of masking and removal (when activated) – supervision transmission.
Visual indications and tests: walk-test indication (see test) shown from the alarm led for 2 min. - automatic reset.
Radio transmissions: two quartz controlled emitters – frequencies (>400MHz and >850MHz) and power emission according to law, and
indicated approximately for security reasons. 40 Bit factory coded signals. Radio range about 100m in open air and about 40m inside residential
environments in absence of noises on the bands.
