5. Before starting

Fitting the hand guard
Attach the hand guard (Fig.2/Item 2) in the direction
of the arrow as shown in figure 4a. Next, fasten this
with the 2 screws (Fig. 2/Item 13) as shown in Fig.
4b.
Assembly of the steady grip
Attach the steady grip (Fig. 2/Item 4) in the direction
of the arrow as shown in Fig. 4c.
Important: The lock (Fig. 4c/Item 9) must be on
the right hand side.
Next, with the lock open (Fig. 4c/Item 9), tighten the
screw (Fig. 2/Item 12) completely and then loosen by
approx. one rotation. Attach the steady grip by
closing the lock (Fig. 4c/Item 9).
Adjustable steady grip
The steady grip is adjustable. Loosen the lock (Fig.
4c/Item 9) by opening, bring the steady grip into the
desired position and attach it again by closing the
lock (Fig. 4c/Item 9).
Swivel handle
The hedge shears are fitted with a rear swivelling
handle. This can be turned through 45° and 90° both
counter-clockwise and clockwise.
Pull the slider (Fig. 13/Item 10) into the direction
indicated by the arrow, and turn the handle.
Pull the slide (Fig. 13/Item 10) in the direction
indicated by the arrow again to return the handle to
its original position. The handle should be turned
through 90° for cutting vertically.
Charging the battery
1. Take the battery pack out of the equipment.
Push the lock for the battery (Fig. 5/Item 11) at
the same time (Fig. 5).
2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as
that marked on the rating plate of the battery
charger. Connect the chargerʼs power cable to a
socket outlet and insert the plug (Fig. 6/Item A)
into the charging jack of the battery pack. The
red LED indicates the charging process.
3. The charger will end the charging process
automatically when the battery is fully charged
(after 3-5 h). The green LED will come on.
4. To replace the battery pack, push it in the
direction indicated by the arrow in the receptacle
(Fig. 5). The rechargeable battery can become a
little warm during the charging process. This is
normal.

If the battery pack fails to charge, please check
whether there is voltage at the socket-outlet
whether there is good contact at the charging
contacts
If the battery pack still fails to charge, send
the battery charger with charging adapter
and the battery pack
to our customer services department.
To ensure that the battery pack provides long service
you should take care to recharge it promptly.
Recharging is always necessary when you notice a
drop in the performance of your cordless grass
trimmer.
Never fully discharge the battery pack. This will
cause it to develop a defect.
6. Operation
Switching ON/OFF.
The hedge trimmer is equipped with a two-handed
safety switch. The machine works only when the
switch on the steady grip (Figure 1 / Item 3) is
pressed with one hand and the switch on the handle
(Figure 1 / Item 4) is pressed with the other hand. If
either switch is released, the cutters will stop moving.
Please watch out for the cutters as they slow down to
a standstill.
Notes on working practice
A hedge trimmer can be used to cut shrubs and
bushes as well as hedges.
To obtain the best cutting results, hold the hedge
trimmer so that the cutter teeth are at an angle of
approx. 15° in relation to the hedge (see Figure
7).
The twin-bladed cutters rotate in opposite
directions, thus enabling cutting in both directions
(see Figure 8).
It is recommended to tie a guide line of string or
the like along the hedge so that you cut the hedge
to a level height. Cut off all branches which
protrude beyond the guide line (see Figure 9).
Cut the sides of the hedge with curve-shaped
movements from the bottom up (see Figure 10).
