USER INSTRUCTIONS:
Available systems:
Before using the system, it is essential that you read these instructions and ensure that the correct equipment has been selected.
Always be aware of the limitations of use of the equipment and that it is appropriate to the task.
WARNINGS
•
If these instructions are not followed or the unit is used incorrectly the system may not offer protection to EN 12941+A2
2008.
•
Power units offer NO protection unless a main filter is fitted.
•
In the abnormal situation where the power unit is switched off whilst being worn, the headpiece offers no respiratory
protection and rapid CO2 build-up and oxygen depletion may also result.
•
At high work rates the pressure inside the headpiece may become negative at peak inhalation.
•
The system should not be used in oxygen deficient or oxygen enriched atmospheres.
•
The user must ensure that the nature of the hazard is identified and that the system offers an adequate level of protection.
•
This unit should not be used where the nature of the hazard is unknown.
•
This unit is NOT intrinsically safe and therefore should not be used in explosive atmospheres
•
Be aware that the hose protrudes from the back of the headpiece and take care to avoid snagging.
•
In high wind velocities, the assumed protection levels may not be achieved.
•
Respiratory protection will be reduced unless the headpiece is correctly fitted and properly maintained.
•
Do not confuse the markings on any filter which relate to a certification other than EN 12941. The classification of filters used
with an EN 12941 system will begin with "TH".
•
Filters should only be fitted to the power unit, do not attempt to fit them directly to a hood or helmet.
•
At higher altitudes above 500 metres the "Blocked filter alarm" may sound prematurely (contact Centurion for further
information).

The Nominal Protection Factor (NPF) is derived from the laboratory tests undertaken in EN 12941. The Assigned Protection Factor (APF) is the
expected level of protection when an effective respiratory protection programme is in place. For country specific Assigned Protection Factors, please
refer to European Standard EN 529:2005.
APPLICATIONS AND LIMITATIONS
The ConceptAir respirator system provides protection against dusts, particles, fumes and aerosols (solid and liquid based) to the levels detailed.
No protection is given against gases or vapours.
The ConceptAir system should not be used where airborne concentration of contaminant exceeds the Assigned Protection Factor (APF) x the
Occupational exposure limit (OEL) or Workplace Exposure Limit (WEL).
The system is recommended for use in the temperature range +5°C to +35°C and in conditions where relative humidity does not exceed 90%.
For further information regarding protection factors please contact Centurion customer services.
PREPARATION FOR USE
Battery
The power unit is fitted with a rechargeable battery pack, which requires charging before use.
Battery Charger Operation Instructions
Intelligent Charger (R23BCLI)
This charger will charge ConceptAir battery pack R23BLI. The charger is supplied with 4 international plug types UK, SAA, EU and US.
1. Disconnect charger from electricity supply.
2. To attach an alternative plug type - Push the release button and move the plug backwards. Insert the plug (suitable for the electricity supply) into the
charger pushing firmly until it "clicks home".
3. Only use the correct plug for your electricity supply.
4. Connect charger to electricity supply via suitable electrical socket (100- 240V +/- 10% AC- 50-60HZ).
5. Connect the battery charger lead into the socket of the ConceptAir battery pack.
6. The LED on top of the charger will illuminate red to indicate the battery is charging and will change to constant GREEN when the battery is fully
charged. (When the battery is fully charged, the battery charger will automatically switch to a minimum maintenance charge).
7. Unplug the charger and remove the battery from the unit when not in use.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Use only with Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery packs. (Do not attempt to recharge any non-rechargeable battery packs).
2. Batteries must be charged indoors at an ambient of between 10°C and 30°C
3. This charger is designed for indoor use only.
4. Never use the charger in a potentially explosive atmosphere.
5. Do not expose the charger to high temperatures or allow moisture or humidity of any kind to come into contact with the charger.
6. Do not cover charger at any time.
7. Always disconnect the charger if it is not in use.
8. Do not re-charge the battery when fully charged
9. The charger should not be used by minors.
10. Do not attempt to open the charger. Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified service centre.
