1 Introduction
The Sandberg Serial ATA Raid Boost, from now
on referred to as "the card", lets you expand
your computer with up to two internal Serial
ATA hard disks, either individually or in a RAID
configuration. You can also use the two external
eSATA ports to connect eSATA devices such as
an external hard disk.
2 Installing the Card
1. Switch off your computer and disconnect all
the cables.
2. Open the case.
3. Remove the cover plate on the rear of the
computer next to a free PCI socket. If you are
unsure which sockets in your computer are
PCI sockets, look in the instructions for your
motherboard or computer.
4. Carefully insert the card into the PCI socket
so that the metal flange is located where you
removed the cover plate. Screw the card to
the computer case.
5. Connect up to two Serial ATA hard disks to
the Serial ATA ports on the card.
6. If you want to create a mirrored RAID set from
a hard disk that already contains data, you
should connect this hard disk to the port on
the card marked "Con 1".
7. Connect the power to the hard disk(s).
8. Close the case and start Windows.
2.1 Installation in Windows
1. When Windows starts up, the message "Found
New Hardware" appears. Click "Next".
2. Insert the accompanying CD-ROM.
3. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my
device (recommended)". Click "Next".
4. Select "Specify a location". Click "Next".
5. Specify the path "D:\PCI_IO\Sata\Raid"
("D" indicates your CD-ROM drive). Click "OK".
6. Click "Next".
7. Windows will state "Digital Signature Not
Found .....", click "Yes".
8. Then click "Finish", and restart the computer.
The card is now installed and ready for use.
Note: In order to install an operating system on
an empty hard disk connected to a Serial ATA
RAID card, it is necessary to create a diskette
with the drivers for the RAID card.
This is done by copying the files in the "D:\PCI_IO
\Sata\Raid" folder onto a diskette. Please use
this diskette during the installation of the
operating system.
2.2 Installation in Windows
1. When Windows starts, a message appears
that it has "Found New Hardware".
2. Insert the enclosed CD-ROM.
3. Select "Install from a list... (Advanced)". Click
"Next".
4. Specify the path "D:\PCI_IO\Sata\Raid"
("D" indicates your CD-ROM drive). Click
"Next".
5. After the drivers have been installed, click
"Finish".
The card is now installed and ready for use.
