Microwave oven with grill Use instructions
The accessible surface may be
hot while working
Material to avoid into the microwave oven
Do not use aluminium containers into the microwave oven, paper container with metallic handle, metallic utensil,
paper bags, polystyrene container, polyurethane or wood, they could cause a fire or melt causing possible con-
tamination of the food by harmful chemicals.
Main characteristics of a microwave oven
The operating principle of a microwave oven is the use of magnetic waves to cook food.
The heart of the technology is a device that can generate electromagnetic waves that led into the microwave
oven heats the water molecules into the food. Water molecules are agitated and produce heat that spreads uni-
formly reaching the deeper layers of the food.
Food cooks more quickly and evenly when the water content is more important. Indeed, for example, vegetables
need only few minutes, depending on the quantity, precisely because of the quantity of water.
Compared to traditional cooking methods, which can burn more easily foods, with the microwave oven that does
not occur, if the advice on cooking times are applied.
The main advantages of microwave ovens are a part of the reduced cooking time compared to traditional co-
oking, with a significant energy saving. Exposure of food at high temperatures is limited, for a better nutritional
properties.
The microwave oven is also very useful to defrost and reheat food.
Cooking in a microwave oven is safe, does not produce permanent changes in the molecular structure of foods.
The downside of cooking in the microwave is the difficulty of assaying the exact cooking time for each food.
Food
Few foods are not suitable for cooking in microwave oven as the eggs that could explode, while foods with a skin
(such as apples, pears, sausages, etc..) must be punched before cooking.
The closed bottles should not be reheated in the microwave oven, alcohols are potential sources of fire.
Containers
Electromagnetic waves are repelled by metals, not suitable for use in microwave oven. Even if the crystal con-
tains some lead, plastic contains melanin, trays and aluminium foil are not suitable. Glass, terra cotta, paper
are suitable if they were studied for cooking into microwave oven (they are engraved on the bottom or on the
package suitable for cooking in microwave oven).
Porcelain and ceramics that have metal edging or gilt edges are excluded.
It is advisable to use oval containers without corners or edges, the bottles should not be put in the microwave
oven with the rubber parts applied.
Useful advices
Cooking depends on the homogeneity, quantity and type of food.
It is recommended to cut the vegetables into strips or pieces for cooking.
Add water if necessary or if written on the package.
Advice for defrost
Frozen foods in plastic bags or films or in their packages can be placed directly in the oven, as long as there are
no metal parts (e.g. clamps or closing points).
Some foods, as vegetables and fish, do not need to be defrosted completely before you begin cooking.
Stewed foods, meat sauce and stews thaw better and faster if they are mixed occasionally, turned and / or
separated.
During thawing, meat, fish and fruit lose liquid. It is recommended to defrost them in a pan.
Defrosting food using the microwave oven does not contribute to the growth of bacteria.
Advices for reheat food
Food must be defrosted before reheating.
Remove the packages and containers with metal parts.
Choose the correct function based on weight, temperature and type of food.
Mix the food during heating.
