TAKING A MEASUREMENTS
ALLWAYS THE FIRST SQUIRTS OF MILK SHOULD BE
MEASURED that are squirted directly to the measurement cup.
Each quarter should be examined separately.
1. Press the ON/OFF switch and place the cup under the teat A.
Squirt the milk directly into the cup to fill it up (minimum 1
cm from the cup edge)
2. After about 1 second press the switch to turn the detector on
– the result will be displayed. For example:

3. Discard milk into bucket, than press turn on the device, the
dashes will start flashing again for the next quarter, proceed
as before and for each the remaining quarters.

4. After you have sampled four quarters, they will all be shown in
the display window.

5. Press the button once again to see which quarter may be
under the threat of subclinical mastitis. Now the differences
between particular quarters are displayed:

6. After the results have been viewed, the detector should be
thoroughly rinsed out in order to avoid contamination of the
next set of readings.
7. It is possible to examine the cow at once. You only have to
press the button for a short time to turn on the detector. All
previous read-outs will disappear. The detector is now ready
for next measurements.

8. The detector turns off if the button is kept pressed longer than
3 seconds. When finished press the ON/OFF switch. If
button is pressed during 30 second time the instrument turns
off automatically to conserve battery power.
