INSTALLATION
WARNING! Electrical terminations must be
completed by qualified person.
NOTE: Installation temperature range is
-60°F to 131°F.
NOTE: Minimum clearance of 3" is required
around vessel during installation.
NOTE: Voltage and frequency must be within
+/- 10% of the rated value specified on the
product.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Always install heater on a clean, even surface for best
performance and longevity. Debris and residue on the
surface can not only damage heater, but may also
reduce the effectiveness of the heater by reducing the
heat transfer between the surface and the heater.
NOTE: Remove or avoid contact with sharp
edges including rough corners, welds and weld
spatter, exposed bolts, dents, etc.
NOTE: Remove or avoid contact with rust,
stickers or other coverings.
NOTE: Remove oil, moisture, gel or other liquids
from the vessel's surface.
1.
Inspect heater prior to each installation.
2. Inspect vessel to be heated for any sharp edges,
rust, oil, etc.
3. Ensure there are no combustible materials within 12"
of the surface to be heated.
4. Select a suitable location to install the heater.
5. Attach the heater assembly to the drum to be
heated by hooking the spring over the hook clip at
the other heater end.
6. Wrap the heater tightly around the drum where it will
be in full contact with the drum, ensuring the heater
is perfectly flat and straight against the side of the
drum to avoid hot spots that can shorten the life of
the heater (avoid installing heater over drum ridges).

INSTRUCTIONS
INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Do not place drum heater over dents or
extreme rust spots.
NOTE: Do not immerse heater in liquid.
NOTE: Do not operate heater at a voltage
higher than the specified or rated voltage as
indicated on the label.
NOTE: Do not expose heater to chemicals,
acids, alkalis, oils, fluids or other substances
that could ignite or cause damage to the
heater.
NOTE: Do not place any insulated material
over the heater unless adequate measures are
taken to control heater temperature.
NOTE: Do not leave heaters operating
unattended unless an external high limit
temperature controller is installed to ensure
safety.
NOTE: Do not attempt to repair damaged
heater. Immediately discard damaged
or torn heater to avoid injury and hazardous
conditions.
7. The heater must be mounted below the level of
liquid in the drum. The heater should be located
below the lowest expected content level (typically
the bottom 1/3) of the vessel.
8. To avoid damaging the internal element of the
heater, do not bend the heater sharply.
9. Do not twist the heater or cover any protrusions that
may cause an air gap between the vessel and the
heater.
10. It is recommended to open the bung of the vessel to
allow for expansion of the contents when heating.
11. Ensure heater is installed and used by qualified,
trained professionals.
