Have a look at your map:
• On maps, North is always at the top.
• On most trail maps the grid shown is exactly
parallel with the edges of the map. This
makes it easier to find locations and most
importantly, to place the compass.
• If no grid exists on the map, you can orientate
yourself with the names of locations, which
are always noted on the West-East axis.
