Contactors with extended tolerance
Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing,
operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Turn off and lock out all power supplying this device
before working on this device.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
NOTICE
This product has been designed for environment A. Use of this product in enviro-
ment B may cause unwanted electromegnetic distrubances in which case the
user may be required to take adequate mtigation measures.
The coils of the contactors have a large tolerance from 0.7 to 1.25 x Us
and are fitted with varistors as standard to provide protection against volt-
age surges. As a result the opening delay is 2 ms to 5 ms longer than that
for standard contactors.
A series resistor must be used to change the DC solenoid systems of the
3TB and 3TC contactors to a holding excitation state.
This series resistor is contained in the contactors. For types 3TB50 and
3TC48, the series resistor must be attached and wired onto the right-hand
side of the auxiliary switch block using the enclosed mounting parts (use
only the original screws, do not use longer screws) and sets of links
provided. The 3TC44 must be mounted and wired between the contactor
poles. For types 3TB52/54/56 and 3TC52/56, the series resistor must be
attached separately next to the contactors. One NC of the auxiliary con-
tacts is required for the series resistor function. The selection and ordering
data shows the number of additional, unassigned auxiliary contacts. It is
not possible to extend the number of auxiliary contacts.
For the 3TB52 and 3TC52 and larger contactors, the series resistor must
be connected via an additional reversing contactor (3RT13 17). This con-
tactor is automatically included in the delivery in the same packaging as
the contactor.
All specifications and technical data not mentioned here are identical to
those of the standard 3TB and 3TC contactors.
