IMPORTANT: Do not lift hydraulic equipment by the
hoses or swivel couplers. Use the carrying handle
or other means of safe transport.
CAUTION: Keep hydraulic equipment away from
flames and heat. Excessive heat will soften
packings and seals, resulting in fluid leaks. Heat
also weakens hose materials and packings. For optimum
performance do not expose equipment to temperatures of 65°C
[150°F] or higher. Protect hoses and cylinders from weld spatter.
DANGER: Do not handle pressurized hoses.
Escaping oil under pressure can penetrate the skin,
causing serious injury. If oil is injected under the
skin, see a doctor immediately.
WARNING: Only use hydraulic cylinders in a
coupled system. Never use a cylinder with
unconnected couplers. If the cylinder becomes
extremely overloaded, components can fail catastrophically
causing severe personal injury.
WARNING: BE SURE SETUP IS STABLE BEFORE
LIFTING LOAD. Cylinders should be placed on a
flat surface that can support the load. Where
applicable, use a cylinder base for added stability.
Do not weld or otherwise modify the cylinder to attach a base or
other support.
Avoid situations where loads are not directly
centered on the cylinder plunger. Off-center loads
produce considerable strain on cylinders and
plungers. In addition, the load may slip or fall, causing
potentially dangerous results.
Distribute the load evenly across the entire saddle
surface. Always use a saddle to protect the plunger.
IMPORTANT: Hydraulic equipment must only be
serviced by a qualified hydraulic technician. For
repair service, contact the Authorized ENERPAC
Service Center in your area. To protect your warranty, use only
ENERPAC oil.
WARNING: Immediately replace worn or damaged
parts by genuine ENERPAC parts. Standard grade
parts will break causing personal injury and
property damage. ENERPAC parts are designed to
fit properly and withstand high loads.
3.0 INSTALLATION/MOUNTING (SEE FIGURE 1)
3.1 Mounting the Bench Press
Mount the press using the four mounting holes located in the
bracket. See Figure 1 for mounting dimensions.
The bench press is suitable for use in vertical or horizontal
position.
3.2 Mounting the Cylinder
Place the cylinder in the mounting block and tighten.
3.3 Hydraulic Connections
1.
Connect the hose from the pump to the cylinder.
2.
Tighten all couplers and fittings.
1
NOTE: Use 1
⁄
wraps of teflon on the NPTF threads, leaving
2
the first complete thread free of tape to ensure that pieces of
tape do not enter the hydraulic system, causing leakage or
damage.
4.0 OPERATION
For complete operating instructions refer to the instruction sheets
included with each pump and cylinder.
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory that the operator has
a full understanding of all instructions, safety
regulations, cautions and warnings before starting
to operate any of these high-force tool equipment.
4.1 Advancing and Retracting the Cylinder
1.
On hand pump (P142) close the release valve and raise and
lower the pump handle to advance the cylinder to the desired
position.
4.2 Air Removal
Advance and retract the cylinder several times avoiding pressure
build-up. Air removal is complete when the cylinder motion is
smooth.
5.0 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE
Regularly inspect all components to detect any problem requiring
maintenance and service.
1.
Replace damaged parts immediately.
2.
Do not exceed oil temperature above 60° C.
3.
Keep all hydraulic components clean.
4.
Periodically check the hydraulic system for loose connections
and leaks.
5.
Change hydraulic oil in your system as recommended in the
pump instruction sheet.
6.
Periodically check the press frame to make sure all bolts are
tight and frame parts are undamaged. Immediately replace
worn or damaged parts with genuine Enerpac parts. For
repair contact your nearest authorized Enerpac Service
Center.
