Preparing sheet metal surface for mounting
Once aligned correctly tape
adapters to surface. Carefully
remove cross bars.
Installing Direct Mount Adapters to mounting surface
M6 hex nut
Plus Nut
Assemble M6 hex nut,
M5 x 30mm bolt, steel
flat washer, star
washer, & Plus nut as
shown .
Seal edges of
drilled holes with
automotive touch
automotive touch
up paint.
Holding the M6 hex nut firmly with a
10mm wrench , tighten the hex bolt
with a 8mm wrench until the Plus
nut insert collapses (there will be a
noticeable force increase).
Attaching Cross Bars and tightening hardware
ROLA carries a variety of cross bar styles and lengths to attach to our direct mount adapters. Cross Bars are sold with
mounting hardware.
Any weight carried on the vehicle will adversely affect its handling particularly in cornering or in a cross wind and the vehicle should
therefore be driven with increased caution.

Loads should be evenly distributed and secured. REGULARLY CHECK THE TIGHTNESS OF BOLTS

Mark mounting holes with
fine tip marker or pencil
Install Plus Nut inserts into
drilled holes.
Use new star washer to
install each Plus Nut.
Re-Install cross bars onto adapter bases
and tighten anchor point screws firmly
into adapter nuts
Check the function of all doors and sunroof before driving.
Drill 3.6mm pilot hole first,
then drill .290" dia. holes.
Do not drill deeper than ¼".
Note- not advisable to drill
through adapters
Once the Plus nut inserts are
installed remove the hex bolt,
nut & washer assembly.
Hold
Apply a small amount
of silicone into

Important- Use drill stops or wrap
masking tape around the drill bits to
insure drilling no deeper than ¼" below
sheet metal . Wear safety glasses when
drilling!
Blow away any debris.
M6 hex nut
Install bolts and nylon washers through
adapters and into the inserts on the
mounting surface. Firmly secure bolts
with hex wrench.
Be sure to install M6 hex nut into
bottom of adapter.
Install covers when cross bars are not
installed to keep debris out of adapters
