1. Remove factory tow loop if present- Remove (2) bolts using 14mm socket and factory tow loop from passenger side frame rail.
Return bolts and tow loop to vehicle owner.
2. Lower Exhaust- Lower exhaust by removing the (2) rubber hangers by the muffler and (1) rubber hanger just forward of the muffler.
Note: Be sure to support the exhaust when removing the rubber hangers.
3. Install fasteners - Insert carriage bolts and blocks into existing holes in the side of the frame rails. Adjust carriage bolts to be flush with
the inside of frame rails. Note: On the driver side, the carriage bolts are installed by reaching between the bumper fascia and over the
top of the carbon canister.
4. Install hitch - Raise the hitch into position and push the carriage bolts through the holes in the hitch. Loosely install the ½" conical
washers (teeth side toward hitch) and hex nuts onto carriage bolts. Tip: for ease of installation, raise the driver side of hitch first, guiding
the flange on side bracket around the carbon canister. Then raise the passenger side into position.
5. Loosely install the M10 hex bolts with 7/16" conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) into existing weld nuts in the bottom of frame rails.
6. Tighten all 1/2" GR5 hitch fasteners with torque wrench to 75 Lb.-ft. (102N*M) and all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 Lb.-Ft. (52 N*M)
Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
7. Reinstall exhaust – Raise exhaust back into position and reinstall the rubber hangers removed earlier. Note: A soapy water solution
applied to the rubber hangers will ease installation.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe
safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
