SBC RU 098
INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of the Philips SBC RU 098 remote control. The
SBC RU 098 is the simplest remote control in the Philips universal range. It is
pre-programmed to operate most television brands in Europe, and it's ready for
use with all Philips TVs. Setting up for other brands can be done by following a
simple 2-step set-up (see chapter SETTING UP BY CODE ENTRY). The
SBC RU 098 contains just four functions for maximum ease of use; Power,
Program +/-, Volume+/- and Mute. This makes it the easiest replacement for lost
or broken TV remotes.

your TV in the brands list on page 26.
1. Press and hold c 5 and y 6 at the same time for 3 seconds.
– The indicator LED lights up.
2. Enter the 5-digit code for your brand using the numbers that correspond to
the function keys (see diagram).
– The indicator LED blinks twice to indicate successful set-up.
– Press buttons on the SBC RU 098 to check that the code works on your TV. If
it does, write down this code inside the SBC RU 098's battery lid.
– If the TV does not respond correctly, try the next code from the code list until
the TV responds correctly.
– If none of the listed codes work, go to Chapter SETTING UP BY AUTOSEARCH
SETTING UP BY AUTOSEARCH
Before you start, make sure your TV is ready to receive infra-red signals. The TV
must be switched on, there should be no obstacles between you and the TV, and
you should be right in front of the TV.
1. Press and hold c 5 and y 6 at the same time for 3 seconds.
– The indicator LED lights up.
2. Press y 6 to start the search.
– Every time the LED lights, another code is tested. When the right code for
your TV is found, the TV switches off. Immediately proceed with step 3.
