Magnetically Mounted LED Warning Lights
Because vehicle roof construction and driving conditions vary, driving a vehicle with a magnetically mounted
warning light installed is not recommended. The light could fl y off the vehicle causing injury or damage. Repair
of damage incurred because of ignoring this warning shall be the sole responsibility of the user. The holding
power of magnetic mounting systems is dependent upon surface fi nish, surface fl atness, and thickness of the
steel mounting surface. Therefore, to promote proper magnetic mounting:
•
The mounting surface and magnets must be kept clean, dry, and free of foreign particles that prevent
good surface contact.
•
Ensure that the mounting surface is fl at.
•
A magnet mounting system should not be used on vehicles with vinyl tops.
•
To prevent sliding of the light assembly on the mounting surface, quick acceleration and hard stops
should be avoided.
•
If the light is to be held directly to the roof by the magnet, ensure that the power cable is not under the
magnet.
Installing the Warning Light
To install the light:
1.
Place the light assembly on a level steel surface. Ensure that the light is placed to promote maximum
coverage and range of the light's warning signal.
2.
Insert the plug on the end of the power cord into the dashboard 10-30-volt power outlet (or cigarette
lighter outlet) (Figure 1).
3.
Test the light to ensure that is operating properly.
AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT—Do not install equipment or route wiring in the
deployment path of an airbag. Failure to observe this warning will reduce the
effectiveness of the airbag or potentially dislodge the equipment, causing
serious injury or death.
LIGHT HAZARD—To be an effective warning device, an emergency warning
system produces bright light that can be hazardous to your eyesight when
viewed at a close range. Do not stare directly into the lights at a close range or
permanent damage to your eyesight may occur.
BATTERY EXPLOSION—To avoid a battery explosion, always disconnect the
negative battery cable first and reconnect it last. Avoid a spark when connecting
near or to the battery. The gases produced by a battery can cause a battery
explosion that could result in vehicle damage and serious injury.
