6. Recording the Maximum and Minimum Measurements
Press ON/OFF to activate the device. Press the RECORD button. The message "REC" is now displayed in the top
left-hand corner of the display and the device starts tracking the maximum and minimum sound levels.
Press RECORD again. "MIN" appears at the top of the screen and the lowest recorded sound level is displayed. No
new values are displayed digitally at this time, but the bargraph continues to indicate current sound levels.
Press RECORD again. "MAX" appears at the top of the screen and the highest recorded sound level is displayed. No
new values are displayed digitally at this time, but the bargraph continues to indicate current sound levels.
Press RECORD again to repeat this process. Hold RECORD until the "REC" symbol is erased from your screen if
you wish to exit the recording mode.
7. Selecting Automatic and Manual Ranging
The meter features 4 measurement ranges in steps of 10dB :
• 40-70dB
• 60-90dB
• 80-110dB
• 100-130dB
The automatic range mode is always installed upon activation of the device : the message "AUTO" is displayed in the
top left-hand corner of the display. In the automatic range mode, the device automatically selects the appropriate
range. The number in the bottom left-hand corner immediately above the bargraph indicates the lower limit of the
current range.
The range can also be set manually. This can be very useful if you know the measurement range in advance : the
meter will be able to execute the readings more quickly, since it does not have to establish the correct range prior to
performing the actual measurements.
To adjust the range manually :
Hold the RANGE button for approximately 2 seconds during your measurements : the message "MANU" appears on
the display. Press RANGE repeatedly until the required range appears on the LCD. Remember that the lower limit of
the current range is displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen, immediately above the bargraph.
In the manual ranging mode, the message "LO" may be displayed. This means that the measured sound levels are
too low to be registered in the range you have selected. "HI" is displayed if the measured sound levels are too high
for the selected range. Adjust the range in both cases in order to ensure the accuracy of the measurements.
Hold RANGE for 2 seconds if you wish to return to automatic ranging.
8. Automatic Deactivation
In order to save battery power, the device will be deactivated automatically after an inactivity of 20 minutes.
It is possible, however, to override this feature :
1. Deactivate the device.
2. Press ON/OFF and MAX HOLD simultaneously.
3. Release MAX HOLD first when the full display appears : the " " symbol replaces the full display.
