1. "OFF/VOLUME" control:
In ''OFF'' position your transceiver is off. Turn this knob clockwise to switch on the unit and
adjust the volume to a comfortable sound level.
2. "Speaker Microphone Connector":
Connect an optional speaker/microphone or an earphone to this jack.
3. Antenna:
The antenna screws into the top of the radio.
4. LED "TX/BATT":
Lights when the unit is transmitting and when the batteries are low. In that case, replace the
alkaline or recharge the AA Ni-Cd batteries as soon as possible after this indicator comes on.
5. Speaker and Microphone:
This is the speaker and mic location in the radio. During transmission, keep your mouth 4/10
cm far from the unit and speak with a normal voice level.
6. CHANNEL SELECTORS UP / DOWN
To skip to the next / previous channel. The selected channel will appear on the display.
7. LED Display:
It shows the channel in use.
8. "CALL" button:
Press this button to cause the radio to transmit an alerting tone to others on your channel.

9. Dual Watch:
this function allows the synthonization on two different channels at the same time. Thanks to
this function, you can monitor a second channel. When a signal on the second channel is
received, the conversation on the first channel is automatically interrupted and the receiver
switches on the second channel. The monitoring starts again 4 seconds after the signal end.
To activate this function, operate as follows:
- Select the desired channel through the channel selectors
- Press the "DW" button
- Select the second channel
- Press the button "DW" again
- To cancel the function press again either the "DW" button or the PTT button.
10. "SCAN" button:
with this control, you can automatically seek for a busy channel.
Operate as follows:
• Select one channel;
• Press the ''SCAN'' button: the transceiver will scan automatically all the channels until a
carrier is being received.
• When it finds the carrier it stops and starts again some seconds after the ending of the
communication on the channel.
SCAN function can be deactivated by pushing PTT control or any other button.
11. Microphone.
12. "PTT" button:
By pressing "PTT", the transmitter is activated; by releasing, you activate the receiver.
13. "MON" (Monitor) control:
By pressing "MON" control, the squelch is opened: with this operation, you can hear whether
the channel is busy. When initially setting the volume, pressing this button will allow background
noise to be heard.
14. Charge jack:
Connect the charger to this jack. ALAN 507 operates at 4,5 volts maximum. DO NOT CONNECT
TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OR ANY SOURCES HIGHER OR LOWER THAN 9 / 10 VOLTS:
sever damage will result.
15. "PTT/VOX"switch:
The VOX function permits a hands-free use of the radio.
ALAN 507 transmission can start when speaking close to the unit.
The mic. sensitivity can be selected in 2 positions:
"H" (high sensitivity) or "L" (low sensitivity).
16. Battery pack:
To open the battery compartment, press the grooved latch area and slide the cover toward the
bottom of the radio. It accepts 3 optional "AA" size alkaline batteries or 3 "AA" Ni-Cd batteries.
