1. General

The 6FX series submersible pump is constructed entirely of stainless steel to ensure maximum efficiency
and durability.
Stainless steel is the best material to ensure the highest resistance to wear, abrasion, corrosion and the
harsh environmental conditions found in the depths of water wells. It also allows the realisation of light-
weight units, while still guaranteeing their necessary durability.
Each submersible pump is subjected to hydraulic tests at the end of the assembly line and is therefore
ready for motor coupling and use. However, before proceeding with these operations, the pump should
be carefully inspected to make sure no damage has occurred after it has left the production line (for ex-
ample, during shipping). A visual inspection will be sufficient to ascertain whether the pump is in proper
condition.
2. Moor-pump coupling
The pump's coupling and flange are suitable for any submersible motor with shaft extension and dimen-
sions in accordance with NEMA standards. For correct coupling, proceed as follows:
- Remove the cable guard (1) after removing the fastening screws (2) (Fig. 1).
- Make sure the splines and mating surfaces of both motor and pump are clean.
- Align pump and motor along the same axis.
- Insert the motor shaft (3) in the pump coupling (4) and complete the coupling operation.
- Fit a spring washer (8) to each motor stud (5) and screw down the 4 nuts (6) which secure the pump to
the motor, tightening them gradually in cross sequence.
- Position the motor cable (7) along the pump side, reposition the cable guard (1), then insert it in the ap-
propriate seat on the motor side; secure it with the screws (2) on the pump's discharge side.
3. Installing the electric pump in the well
The pump is designed for handling clean cold water.
The maximum amount of sand allowed is 50 g/m
The well must therefore be cleaned prior to pump installation.
A higher concentration of sand would in time cause - despite the high abrasion resistance of stainless
steel - premature wear, thus greatly reducing the life of the pump.
3.1 Check-valve installed in the discharge pipe
The 6FX series pump has a check valve installed in the discharge port. However, if the pump is to direct-
ly feed a pressurized system, another check valve must be fitted in the discharge pipe. This additional
valve will reduce the hydraulic shocks resulting from intermittent running.
3.2 Suspending the electric pump unit
To lower the pumping unit and set it in its final position in the water well, use the delivery pipe, consisting
of several screwed or flanged lengths of pipe supported by appropriate collars.
Make sure that all the lengths of pipe are tightly screwed, as they tend to be loosened by the adverse
torque generated by the kickback of the motor upon starting.
A socket-head screw is provided on the discharge port of the 6FX series pump to prevent the loosening
of the first length of pipe.
For greater safety, or if the pipes are made of synthetic materials, use a stainless steel cable, threading it
through the 4 special holes in the pump's upper support (Fig. 2).
3.3 Securing the drop cable to the delivery pipe
To avoid snags and interference with the well casing, particularly at the well mouth, fasten the cable to
the delivery pipe at intervals not exceeding 3 metres, using rubber tape suitable for submersible applica-
tions (fig. 3).
