Disinfection Instructions:
This device is not intended to be autoclaved.
NOTE:
Prior to disinfection, clean the nebulizer according to steps 1-3 above.
Every other treatment day you should disinfect your nebulizer. It may be disinfected by
using any of the following methods:
1. Soak all parts (except tubing) in 1:50 bleach to water solution for 3 minutes.
(approximately 1 Tablespoon bleach in 3 1/4 cups water) Rinse with clean water,
shake out any excess water and allow to air dry. You may substitute a respiratory
equipment disinfectant (such as Control III
manufacturer's instructions for use.
2. The nebulizer parts may also be disinfected by boiling in water for 10 minutes. After
removing and allowing parts to cool, shake out any excess water and allow to air dry
before reassembly.
3. The nebulizer may also be disinfected in the microwave. Add approximately 60 mL
(2oz.) of clean water to a Quick-Clean
nebulizer parts in the bag, seal and place in the microwave. Microwave on high power
for 3 minutes. Carefully remove the bag and pour out the excess water. After
removing and allowing parts to cool, shake out any excess water and allow to air dry
before reassembly.
4. Soak all parts (except tubing) in a 1:3 vinegar to water solution for 1 hour
(approximately 1 cup vinegar to 3 cups water). Rinse with clean water, shake out
excess water and allow to air dry before reassembly.
For Cystic Fibrosis patients, guidelines recommend boiling for a full 10 minutes
NOTE:
to disinfect.
Single Patient Use
The device is intended for single patient use (one patient only). The device should be
replaced after approximately 6 months or immediately if components are cracked or the
nebulizer does not function properly.
Contraindication
This device has not been tested for use with Pentamidine.
CAUTIONS:
• Supervision is necessary when this device is used for treating children.
• The AeroEclipse ® R BAN can deliver aerosolized medication in either Breath Actuated
or Continuous mode. In Breath Actuated mode, medication is delivered on inspiration
only and may result in an increase of the dosage to the lungs. Clinicians should take
this infor mation into consideration with regards to dosage.
