MAINTENANCE
Cleaning Tool
With the motor running, blow dirt and dust out of all air vents with dry air at least once a week. Wear safety glasses when performing this
operation. Keep the tool handles clean, dry, and free of oil or grease by using a mild detergent and a damp cloth to clean your tool.
Although these parts are highly solvent resistant, NEVER use solvents.
Maintaining Tool
Keep your tool in good working condition by adopting a regular maintenance program. Examine the general condition of your tool before
each use. Inspect guards, switches, and extension cord for damage. Check for loose screws, misalignment, binding of moving parts,
improper mounting, broken parts, and any other conditions that may affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, turn
the tool off immediately and have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use a damaged tool. Tag damaged tools "DO NOT
USE" until repaired.
Repairing Tool
If your tool is damaged, return the entire tool to the nearest authorized Sioux Tools service center.
ACCESSORIES
Recommended accessories are available at extra cost from you local service center.
CAUTION: The use of any non-recommended accessories may be hazardous.
Double Insulation
Tools marked "Double Insulated" do not require grounding. They have a special double insulation system,
which satisfies OSHA requirements and complies with the applicable standards of Underwriters' Laboratories,
Inc., the Canadian Standards Association and the National Electrical Code. Double Insulated tools may be
used in either of the 120 volt outlets shown in figs. A and B.

EXTENSION CORDS

Double insulated tools can use either a two or three wire extension cord. As the distance from the supply outlet increases, you must use
a heavier gauge extension cord. Using extension cords with inadequately sized wire causes a serious drop in voltage, resulting in loss of
power and possible tool damage.
The smaller the gauge number of the wire, the greater the capacity of the cord. For example, a 14-gauge cord can carry a higher current
than a 16-gauge cord. When using more than one extension cord to make up the total length, be sure each cord contains the minimum
wire size required. If you are using one extension cord for more than one tool, add the warning label amperes and use the sum to
determine the required minimum wire size. Refer to the table below to determine the required minimum wire size.

8.1 - 12
12.1 - 15
15.1 - 20
* Based on limiting the line voltage drop to five volts at 150% of the rated amperes.
Guidelines for Using Extension Cords
If you are using an extension cord outdoors, be sure it is marked with the suffix "W-A" ("W" in Canada) to indicate that it is acceptable for
outdoor use.
Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. Always replace a damaged extension cord or have it
repaired by a qualified person before using it.
Protect your extension cords from sharp objects, excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.
