- Mount the plate (position B) onto the thread of the bracket on the base of the roof box
with the milled side facing down so that the tapered part is facing into the box (Ref. Fig. 5).
The plates are the same for the tightening bracket on the rectangular profile.
- Screw in the butterfly nut (position D) and tighten manually without the use of tools. Each
plate must be fastened with two butterfly nuts!
- An insufficiently or only partially fastened roof box is not safely connected with the roof rack
and must not be used. This could lead to the roof box sliding off the roof causing a serious
accident.
- Mount a rubber strip of the appropriate length onto the T slot at the free ends of the roof
rack.
TIP!
For simpler mounting of the tightening strap (position E) connect the straps to the left
and right plates prior to mounting on the thread (Ref. Fig. 3)
- Fig. 4 -
- The U-bolt for the rectangular profile (position I) is not part of the set and must be or-
dered separately under order No. 5L0 071 752.
- Slightly lift the roof box and insert the U-bolts into the respective holes, on the right and left
sides at the front and the back, and always to the holes parallel to the ones on the other
side.
- Mount the plate (position B) onto the thread of the U-bolt on the base of the roof box with the
milled side facing down so that the tapered part is facing into the box (Ref. Fig. 5). The plates
are the same for the T slot bracket (C).
- Screw the butterfly nut (position D) and tighten manually without the use of tools. Each
plate must be fastened evenly with two butterfly nuts to avoid deforming the U-bolt!
- An insufficiently or only partially fastened roof box is not safely connected with the roof rack
and must not be used. This could lead to the roof box sliding off the roof causing a serious
accident.
- If both brackets are not fastened down tightly the tightening strap can become loose and dam-
age the roof of the vehicle!
TIP!
For simpler mounting of the tightening strap (position E) connect the straps to the left
and right plates prior to mounting on the thread (Ref. Fig. 4)
- Fig. 7 -
- Seal the remaining holes on the base of the roof box against moisture using the self-adhesive
dummy plugs (position F and G). The self-adhesive dummy plugs G are only intended to be
used on the large rear hole in the base of the roof box!
- We recommend lubricating the opening mechanism of the box lid and the lock once per year
with silicone oil.
- Fig. 8 -
- Prior to driving off check that the roof box is fitted securely.
- Pay attention to the change in height of the vehicle, the alteration in driving characteristics
and the increased sensitivity to side winds.
