- Before drilling into a reinforced concrete structure, check with the project operator
or building manager that the drilling will not damage the structure.
- Secure the zone below the drilling as the drill bit may drop once drilling is
complete.
- Avoid placing too much pressure on the core bit.
- Only use the auxiliary handle delivered with the machine. Keep the handles dry
and free of oil or grease.
- This core drill may be installed on a column support. The operator must use a
stable and solid motor support that has been specially designed for the purpose.
- The motor may only be used with both hands or on a support stand.
- Do not touch any rotating parts during drilling.
- When using the machine by hand, grip the machine firmly with both hands and
adopt a stable position. Pay attention to reaction time when the core bit locks in the
drilling.
- Pay particular attention during raised hand drilling.
- Respiratory tract protection:
Some of the dust which is produced during sawing, sanding, drilling,
polishing and other site work contains chemicals that we know cause
cancer, harm foetuses and cause other genetic problems.
For example, these chemicals are:
Lead in leaded colourings
Crystalline silica in bricks, cement and other wall-building products
Arsenic and chrome in chemically treated timber.
The risks to which you are exposed by this work varies according to the frequency
with which you carry out this work. To reduce the risk from these chemicals, always
work in a properly-ventilated environment and with the recommended protective
equipment, for example with an anti-dust mask that has been specially designed to
filter micro particles.
