If the pump does not operate as required once started, check the priming, turning direction and
connections of the motor.
3.6 Zone 0 - Internal
If flammable liquids are drawn off that may originate 0 Zones inside the pump and its tubes, precautions
must be taken especially in the start-up, stop and pump cleaning processes
The recommended measures
• That the pump is < 3s empty.
• Neutralise these actions, or use another prevention method for the existence of explosive atmosphere
pursuant to the 1999/92/CE Directive.
• Adjust the internal volume during these operations to the following maximums:
Flammable substance
A
B
C
D
E
F
Where:
Group A: flammable substances with flash point up to 0ºC.
(as long as they do not belong to group F)
Group B: flammable substances with flash point between 0ºC and 21ºC.
Group C: flammable substances with flash point between 21ºC and 40ºC.
Group D: flammable substances with flash point between 40ºC and 65ºC.
(take into account that the volumes vary depending on the type of substance)
Group E: flammable substances with flash point greater than 65ºC (fuels).
(take into account that the volumes vary depending on the type of substance)
Group F: flammable gases and liquid flammable gases (in other words, a substance with flash
point lower than or equal to 0ºC at the pressure of 760 mm Hg).
1
During continuous process, it is possible that Zone 0 does not exist because the inside of the pump and its tubes are normally saturated.
