These instructions are intended for users
with basic knowledge in audio technology .
Please read the instructions carefully prior to
operation and keep them for later reference .
1 Applications
This subwoofer is used as a low-frequency
complement to an audio system with special
requirements concerning low-bass repro-
duction . A high-power amplifier provides
sufficient volume reserves . An integrated
limiter will protect the speaker and prevent
signal distortion .
The subwoofer is provided with a
threaded insert of size M20 on its upper
side so that a speaker system can be in-
stalled on top of it .

1 Signal outputs LINE OUT (XLR, bal .) to
route the input signals to additional
active speaker systems, for example

2 Signal inputs LINE IN (XLR, bal .) to con-
nect an audio unit with line level output
(mixer, preamplifier, CD / MP3 player etc .)

WARNING The unit subwoofer uses dan-
thing into the air vents . Inexpert handling
may result in electric shock .
The subwoofer is suitable for indoor use
only . Protect it against dripping water,
splash water and high air humidity .
The admissible ambient temperature is
0 – 40 °C .
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid
on the subwoofer, e . g . a drinking glass .
The heat produced inside the subwoofer
must be dissipated by air circulation;
never cover the air vents .
Immediately disconnect the mains plug
from the socket
1 . if the subwoofer or the mains cable is
2 . if a defect might have occurred after
3 . if malfunctions occur .
In any case, the subwoofer must be re-
paired by skilled personnel .

gerous mains voltage . Leave
servicing to skilled personnel
only and do not insert any-
visibly damaged,
the subwoofer was dropped or suf-
fered a similar accident,
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect
the mains plug from the socket, always
seize the plug .
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth;
never use water or chemicals .
No guarantee claims for the subwoofer
and no liability for any resulting personal
damage or material damage will be ac-
cepted if the subwoofer is used for other
purposes than originally intended, if it is
not correctly connected or operated, or if
it is not repaired in an expert way .
If the subwoofer is to be put out of
operation definitively, take it to a
local recycling plant for a disposal
which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment .

4 Before Operation

4.1 Setting up the subwoofer system

Place the subwoofer system on a solid sur-
face . When using a single subwoofer, it
is not important to place it exactly in the
middle between the satellite speakers as
it will not be possible to precisely locate
the very low frequencies reproduced by
the subwoofer . However, do not place the
subwoofer too close to walls or in corners;
this would distort the frequency response
and impair the heat dissipation of the inte-
grated amplifier .
Another speaker system provided with
a stand sleeve on its lower side can be
installed on top of the subwoofer system:
Screw a spacer tube with a threaded bolt of
size M20 (e . g . KM-21367) into the threaded
insert on the upper side of the subwoofer .
Then fasten the speaker system onto the
spacer tube .
4.2 Connection
Before making or changing any connec-
tions, switch off the subwoofer system and
the units to be connected .
1) Feed the input signal to the XLR jacks
LINE IN (2) . These jacks can be used to
connect the line level output of a mixer,
CD / MP3 player or preamplifier, for exam-
ple . When connecting signal sources with
unbalanced signals, use suitable adapter
cables (XLR to RCA or jack) .
The inputs are designed for ste-
reo signals (R = right channel, L = left
channel) . The two stereo channels of the
signal source will be internally combined
to a mono signal for the subwoofer . For
stereo operation of two subwoofer sys-
tems, only connect one channel to each
system .
2) The jacks HIGH-PASS OUT (6) can be used
to connect active satellite speakers or the
amplifier for the satellite speakers . The
input signals of the XLR jacks LINE IN are
available at these jacks, but the frequen-
cies below 120 Hz have been filtered out .
3) The unfiltered input signals are available
at the jacks LINE OUT (1) . These jacks
