Ceiling-mounted presence detector LAB
By purchasing this item, you have chosen a high-quality GEV
product. Please read these operating instructions carefully to
ensure correct operation. Keep these instructions in a safe place
so that you can refer back to them if necessary.
Operation
The presence detector functions using passive infrared technology
(PIR). If the presence detector's PIR sensor detects a moving heat
source in its fi eld of detection, it automatically switches on the
connected devices. The detector will not be activated by static heat
sources. The twilight value can be adjusted to ensure that the detector
will operate either during the day and night or only at twilight/when it
is dark. The ON period for the connected device can be set using the
in-built timer (Fig. G).
Safety instructions
This device must be installed by a technician in accordance
with the applicable regulations. The electrical power supply
and the corresponding circuit protection must be switched
off throughout the entire installation process. Please check
that the connection cable is actually disconnected before starting
work! Under no circumstances does the warranty cover damage
resulting from failure to observe these instructions. Nor do we accept
liability for any indirect damage. Similarly, we can accept no liability
for any material damage or bodily injury caused by mishandling or
failure to observe the safety instructions. No warranty claim may be
made in these cases. In addition, for safety and compliance reasons,
you are not authorised to dismantle or alter the device in any way.
Mounting position
Motion detection is maximised when moving at an angle (and NOT
head-on) to the detector. This is why the ceiling-mounted presence
detector should always be installed in such a way to ensure that
people/objects do not move directly or straight towards it (Fig. F).
Installation type
The ceiling-mounted presence detector can either be fl ush-mounted
(Fig. A), using the enclosed surface-mounted installation box (Fig. B),
or installed as a recessed ceiling-mounted device (Fig. C).
Installing the ceiling-mounted presence detector
Remove the decorative ring by turning it counter-clockwise (Fig. D).
Flush ceiling mounting
We recommend using a deep fl ush-mounted box, as this makes the
device much easier to install. Remove the clips for recessed ceiling
mounting and install the detector as shown in Figs. A + E.
Surface ceiling mounting
Mount/install the surface-mounted box and the detector as detailed
in Figs. B + E.
Recessed ceiling mounting
Cut a hole in the suspended ceiling as shown in Fig. C. Mount/install
the detector as shown in Figs. C + E. It is essential that the cord grip
is cut to suit the cable size and mounted accordingly.
Settings (Fig. G)
TIME time setting for the ON period - approximately 5 seconds –
30 minutes.
LUX the twilight value can be adjusted between approximately 10
and 2,000 lux.
Test mode/walk test
Switch the relevant circuit protection back on. This will initiate a
self-test, lasting approximately 60 seconds. The connected light will
be switched on and the red LED will remain permanently lit during
this time. When the test phase is complete, the connected light and
the LED will switch off independently. Set the TIME controller to the
"Test" position (Fig. G). Each time movement is detected, the red LED
and the connected lighting will now be switched on for 2 seconds.
This test helps you to determine the fi eld of detection.
