CLEANING THE APPLIANCE
Warning!
All cleaning operations described below must be performed with the machine off and with the electric plug discon-
nected from the socket-outlet.
Warning!
Good maintenance and regular cleaning preserve and keep the machine efficient for a longer amount of time. Never
wash machine components in the dishwasher. Do not use direct jets of water.
Warning!
All operations must be performed when the machine is cold.
Cleaning the capsule holder
Clean the seat of the capsule holder (L) with a sponge periodically (Fig. 10).
With the capsule holder closed, without a capsule inside, start dispensing hot water by pressing the button (R) after you
have placed a glass underneath the dispensing spout (Fig. 5). In this way any coffee residue or impurities present in the
capsule holder dispensing lines will dissolve and be removed. Periodically clean the dispensing hole as well with the help
of a toothpick (Fig. 11-11A).
Cleaning the MAXI CAPPUCCINO device
Warning!
Perform this operation when the chrome-plated pipe is cold so as to prevent burns.
Unscrew the device (G) from the small pipe and wash it with running water. The small pipe can be cleaned with a non-abrasive
cloth. Screw the cappuccino maker back on as far as it will go. If necessary, clean the small steam outlet hole again with a pin.
After use, always let the steam nozzle run for a few seconds so to free the outlet from any possible residue or impurities.
Cleaning the tank
Periodically clean the inside of the tank (D) by washing it directly underneath the tap and drying it with a sponge or damp
cloth.
Cleaning the grill and coffee grounds drawer
Remember to empty the used capsules and water residue out of the coffee grounds drawer (I) periodically (Fig. 12).
Remove the drawer (I) from the machine, empty it and wash it under running water (Fig. 13-14). Remove the cup grill (J)
from the drawer and wash it under running water (Fig. 15). Dry the drawer and put it back in the machine, complete with grill,
making sure it shuts completely (Fig. 16). The coffee grounds drawer can contain up to 15 used capsules at the most.
Cleaning the seat of the coffee grounds drawer
Clean the seat of the coffee grounds drawer (I) from time to time after removing the drawer. Use a sponge or damp cloth for
removing any coffee residue that may have settled on it (Fig. 17).
Cleaning the machine body
Warning!
Clean the fixed parts of the machine using only a damp, non-abrasive cloth so as to not damage the body.
DECALCIFICATION
Good maintenance and regular cleaning preserve and keep the machine efficient for a longer amount of time, considerably
limiting the risks of lime deposits forming inside the appliance. However, should your coffee machine fail to work properly
as a result of the frequent use of hard, high calcium content water, you may perform a decalcification procedure to restore
its operational efficiency. For this purpose you must use only Ariete's, citric acid-based decalcifying products (NOCAL). This
product is easily found at the Ariete technical service centres. Other decalcifying products – although citric acid-based – may
contain chemical additives which might damage the internal parts of your coffee machine; Ariete declines any responsibility
for damages caused by the use of such products.
Warning!
Do not use vinegar. It could damage the appliance.
Any damages due to failure to clean the machine periodically are not covered by the warranty.
Decalcification is to be performed periodically, its frequency is based on the hardness of the water as shown in the table, or
