The assembly and installation of the TCB sensitive edge must
be performed exclusively by qualified and skilled personnel.
1) Description and intended use
The TCB sensitive edge is a pressure-sensitive element for use as a
protective device (PSPE) to limit the force of automations on auto-
matic gates and doors.
The sensitive edge comprises a pressure-deformable rubber struc-
ture containing a switching chamber with two conductive strips nor-
mally spaced at 3-4 mm.
The TCS250 connector with 250 mm wire (for connection of the
detection unit) and TCER (containing a 8200Ω resistance) are insert-
ed on the ends of the sensitive edge. When the edge is not subject
to pressure the conductive strips are not in contact and therefore the
detection unit only reads the terminal resistance of 8200Ω; when the
edge is pressed (also laterally at 45°) the two conductive strips come
into contact, reducing the measured resistance value by a few hun-
dred Ohm, thus activating the alarm status. The design features of
the sensitive edge combined with efficient detection units enable
classification in safety class 3 against faults according to the stan-
dard EN 954-1.
The use of TSBs other than as specified in these instructions is strict-
ly prohibited; improper use constitutes a risk of damage or physical
injury.
For the installation of TCB sensitive edges, 10 m rolls of TCB65 sen-
sitive rubber profiles are available; the relative TCA65 aluminium pro-
files and TCK completion kits enable the installation of 8 sensitive
edges with an average length of 1.25 m.
