OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL
SUBMERSIBLE PUMP SUB SERIES
5. STARTING POINT
ENG
With a three-phase power supply make sure that the direction of rotation is correct.
To do this, with the gate valve in any open position, check the pressure (with the pressure gauge) or
flow rate (sight check) after start-up. Switch off the power, reverse the two-phase connections on the
control panel, restart and check the pressure or flow capacity again.
The correct direction of rotation will give a considerably sharper and easily distinguishable pressure
and delivery capacity.
Make sure that the pump is operating within its rated performance range and that the current draw
indicated on the nameplate is not exceeded.
Otherwise, adjust the supply gate valve or adjust the pressure switches if fitted.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:
has been submerged to a depth of at least 100 mm.
Float switch construction:
•
The float switch, connected directly to the pump, controls starting and stopping.
•
Check that the float switch is clear of any obstructions.
•
If necessary, adjust the float cable.
•
Excessive cable length can cause the motor to overheat and the pump to run dry.
Construction without float switch:
•
If there is no air vent valve, the minimum immersion depth at first start-up must be 300 mm. An
air vent valve must be used on systems with a submerged outlet.
•
Do not start the pump with a fully closed shut-off valve.
•
Never remove the pump from the water while the pump is running.
Never allow the pump to run for more than five minutes with a closed gate valve.
Never run the pump dry, even for a short test period. Never start the pump before it
