RIVETING TIMING CHAIN
Attention:
Secure the exposed timing chain housing with a clean
workshop cloth against accidentally falling parts.
Riveting the timing chain
1. Attach a new rivet link to the ends of the new timing
chain.
2. Insert the required thrust piece (8 or 9) into the rivet
insertion tool (2) and secure with the fixing screw (10).
3. Fit the required pressure piece (4 or 5) into the riveting
press-in tool (2) and fasten the outer lug to the pressure
piece (4 or 5) (hold by a magnet).
4. Place the rivet press-in tool (2) and ensure that the outer
tab and rivet link are aligned.
5. Screw in the spindle from the riveting press-in tool (2) to
the resistance and, when riveting, ensure that the rivet
bolt is guided by the rivet link in the outer lug.
6. Remove the riveting press-in tool (2) from the timing
chain and turn the pressure piece (4 or 5) so that the
rivet insertion tool (2) can be positioned exactly in the
middle above the rivet bolt.
7. Tighten the pressure spindle of the riveting press-in tool
(2) with approx. 30 Nm to 35 Nm.
8. Loosen the pressure spindle and remove the tool from
the control chain.
9. If necessary re-rivet pins.
