Before First Use
• Remove all packaging material and check whether the appliance is complete.
• Place the appliance on an even, non-slippery and heat resistant surface.
• Fully unwind the power cord (5) and connect the appliance to a properly installed wall socket.
The waffle plates (4) have a protective coating. To remove the protective layers on the heating elements, heat
up the appliance (without food) for approx. 10 minutes.
Slightly grease the heating plates with some cooking oil before using the device for the first time. This helps
to seal the heating plates and must only be carried out once.
This could cause a slight build-up of smoke and odour. This doesn't cause any harm nor does it mean that
your appliance does not work properly. Make sure that the room is well ventilated!
After this preheating process, your waffle maker is ready for operation. Let it completely cool down and clean
it as described under Cleaning and Care.
Warning: Plastic bags are a danger to toddlers and babies, therefore keep them away to avoid
suffocation.
Operation
The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high during operation. Therefore, do not
touch the appliance during and/or immediately after operation.
Tip: Prepare the waffle batter in advance before switching on the appliance.
1. Connect the appliance to a properly installed wall.
2. The indicator light (2) lights up and the heating process starts.
The waffle maker requires approx. 4 – 5 minutes to warm up.
3. As soon as the necessary temperature is reached the indicator light (2) will go off. Your waffle maker is
now ready for operation.
Note: During operation, an integrated thermostat switches the appliance on and off to ensure a constant
temperature. This is indicated indicator light (2) cycling on and off.
4. Open the lid (1) by using the handle (3) and fill in the batter in the centre of the lower plate.
5. Close the lid (1) carefully.
Tip: To guarantee an even browning process grease both waffle plates with some oil / butter.
6. Depending on the thickness and content of the waffle batter, the waffles will take between 4 – 6 minutes
until ready.
Open the waffle maker a bit to see whether your waffle is brown enough. If not, let the waffle bake some
more.
7. To remove your waffle use a wooden or plastic spatula to avoid damage to the non-stick coating of the
plates.
8. If you wish to prepare a series of waffles repeat a. m. steps.
9. To switch off the appliance, disconnect it from the mains.
10. Let it completely cool down while opened to full extend.
During operation, an integrated thermostat switches the appliance on and off to ensure a constant
temperature. This is indicated by the indicator light (2) cycling on and off.
