2 Control Feature
●
1
Gain: The Gain control adjusts the input sensitivity and thus the satura-
tion or the degree of distortion of the preamplifier preamp.
●
2
Tone: The Tone control functions works differently than a typical tone
control on a guitar. It does not only control the amount of high frequencies,
it also fades between a mid British sound British tone with strong mids (left
position) to a scooped Californian sound tone (right position) with more bass
and treble. It is neutral in the middle center position.
●
3
Resonance: Set the Resonance knob to 12 o'clock, and you will hear the
normal resonance created by the amp-and-cabinet combination. Twisting
it counterclockwise dampens the speakers' and the cabinet's resonance for
a looser, softer sound that sweetens up your clean tone. Turning the knob
clockwise intensifies resonance for a tighter, punchier low end that works
well with distorted sounds.
●
4
Presence: This control adjusts the amount of generated harmonics har-
monic overtones in the output stage. The more it is turned up, the more
"present" the sound seems.
●
5
Sagging: This control gives you complete control over the saturation
behavior of the power amp at any given volume.

Note: An increase in Sagging increases the saturation of the output stage!
Depending on the Gain setting, Sagging also has more or less impact on
the overall volume. From the left (no effect) to the middle center position,
Sagging increases the volume, from the middle to the right position
(maximum effect), the volume may decrease and must be compensated
with the Master control.
Note: Note: With high Gain settings or in combination with upstream boos-
ters, too much sagging can be counterproductive. The Sagging knob adds a
creamy touch for soaring high-gain lead parts, but too much of it can result
in muddy-sounding riffs and power chords. This is especially true with lower
tuned or 7-string guitars, where it should be used sparingly.
Bypass / FX Loop: This footswitch either disconnects the StompMan's pre-
amp (Gain and Tone controls) from the signal path or turns the FX Loop
on/off, depending on the position of the Mode switch, see section "Rear
panel".
Master: The Master control adjusts the overall volume of the StompMan, it
affects both channels.
Solo: Activate this switch to push the volume up beyond the Master
level by the number of dBs set on the Solo knob. The red LED above
the button lights up to indicate Solo is active.
