Notes on Searching in Different Environments
The search results can be influenced by various factors. For example, the
condition of the metal in the soil, the depth, size, soil moisture, magnetic and
electric fields in the area, other metals in the area, and other factors. Keep
other metal detectors at least 10 m away. To improve your search results:
1. If you are getting interference from other metal detectors, reduce
discrimination and adjust SENS until you do not hear any noise.
2. Interference can also be caused by cable, television and radio sets. Reduce
sensitivity to fade out interference.
3. Soils with a high mineral content can lead to positive hits even when there
is no metal in the ground. Increase the discrimination, reduce sensitivity
and hold the search head a little further away from the ground. To test
the discrimination, hold a sample of the examined metal to the search ring
(23).
4. If you are in an area that is contaminated with many small metal objects
(such as bottle caps, nails, etc.), set the discrimination to an intermediate
level to hide worthless objects.
5. Always keep your digging tool away from the detector while searching.
6. Always adjust the sensitivity (SENS) against the discrimination (DISC).
High sensitivity reduces discrimination. With low sensitivity you have a
high discrimination.
CLEANING AND CARE
Note: Turn the unit off and remove batteries before you disassemble,
service or clean the device.
•
Before each use: make sure that the equipment is in perfect condition.
•
Handle the unit with care. Do not let it fall.
•
After use: wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth without detergent.
