r)
If the pump is not used for a long time, its valve is likely to become stuck in its
seat, resulting in failure of the pump to operate. This issue is solved by pouring
water into the pump's suction port to separate the valve from its seat. It is
recommended that the pump is not left unused for more than a year.
s)
Make sure that the power cord wire size is sufficient for the cord length.
t)
Having installed the pump, test the supply voltage at the pump motor. Do this
with the pump running.
3.3. Cleaning and maintenance
a)
Install a service switch in an accessible location for easy operation of the
pump's electrical power source. Always stop the pump if it is not going to be
used for a long time or when the tank is empty.
b) Routinely maintain and clean the pump. Failure to ensure hygienic treatment
and maintenance is one of the reasons for low discharge capacity of the pump.
c)
Remember to properly winterise the pump in storage, which means proper
preservation of the product against low temperature.
d)
Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
e)
Do not clean with any sharp and/or metal implements (e.g. a wire brush or a
metal scraper) as these may damage the surface of the appliance.
f)
Do not clean the unit with acidic substances, medical products, thinners, fuel,
oil or other chemicals as they may damage it.
