6 : 1 Reduction Case
1.
Rem ove the oil-level-check bolt
and w asher, and see w hether the
oil level is at the edge of the bolt
hole.
2.
If the oil level is below the check
bolt hole, rem ove the filler bolt
and w asher. Add oil until it starts
to flow out the check bolt hole
w ith the recom m ended oil (see
page
9
).
3.
Install the oil-level-check bolt,
filler bolt and w ashers. Tighten
them securely.
Oil Change
2 : 1 Reduction Case With Centrifugal Clutch
Drain the used oil w hile the engine is warm . Warm oil drains
quickly and com pletely.
1.
Place a suitable container below the reduction case to catch the
used oil, then rem ove the oil filler cap/dipstick, the drain plug
and w asher.
2.
Allow the used oil to drain com pletely, then reinstall the drain
plug and a new w asher, and tighten it securely.
Please dispose of used m otor oil in a m anner that is com patible
w ith the environm ent. We suggest you take used oil in a sealed
container to your local recycling center or service station for
reclam ation. Do not throw it in the trash or pour it on the ground
or down a drain.
3.
With the engine in a level position, fill to the upper lim it m ark on
the dipstick w ith the recom m ended oil (see page
the oil level, insert and rem ove the dipstick w ithout screw ing it
into the filler hole.
Reduction case oil capacity:
Running the engine with a low reduction case oil level can cause
reduction case damage.
4.
Screw in the filler cap/dipstick securely.

6 : 1 Reduction Case
Drain the used oil w hile the engine is w arm . Warm oil drains

Drain the used oil com pletely into the container by tipping the
engine tow ard the oil-level-check bolt hole.

w ith the environm ent. We suggest you take used oil in a sealed
container to your local recycling center or service station for
reclam ation. Do not throw it in the trash or pour it on the ground
or dow n a drain.
3.
With the engine in a level position, fill oil until it starts to flow
out the check bolt hole w ith the recom m ended oil (see page

Reinstall the oil-level-check bolt, filler bolt and new w ashers,

OIL-LEVEL-CHECK BOLT
AIR CLEANER
A dirty air cleaner w ill restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing
engine perform ance. If you operate the engine in very dusty areas,
clean the air filter m ore often than specified in the M AINTENANCE
SCHEDULE.
Operating the engine without an air filter, or with a damaged air
filter, will allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear.
This type of damage is not covered by the Distributor's Lim ited
Warranty.
Inspection
Rem ove the air cleaner cover and inspect the filter elem ents.
Clean or replace dirty filter elem ents. Alw ays replace dam aged
filter elem ents. If equipped w ith an oil-bath air cleaner, also check
the oil level.
