Operate the starter.
RECOIL STARTER:
Pull the starter grip lightly until you feel resistance, then pull
briskly. Return the starter grip gently.

Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine.
Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter.
ELECTRIC STARTER (applicable types):
Turn the key to the START position,
and hold it there until the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start w ithin 5
seconds, release the key, and w ait at
least 10 seconds before operating the
starter again.
Using the electric starter for more than
5 seconds at a time will overheat the
starter motor and can damage it.
When the engine starts, release the
key, allow ing it to return to the ON
position.

If the choke lever has been m oved to the CLOSED position to
start the engine, gradually move it to the OPEN position as the
engine warm s up.

STOPPING THE ENGINE
To stop the engine in an em ergency, simply turn the engine sw itch
to the OFF position. Under normal conditions, use the following
procedure. Refer to the instructions provided by the equipm ent
m anufacturer.

M ove the throttle lever to the M IN. position.
Som e engine applications use a rem ote-m ounted throttle
control rather than the engine-m ounted throttle lever show n
here.
Turn the engine sw itch to the OFF position.
