Pre-Operation Inspection

• Remove battery before touching the cutting
head or attaching/removing the hot stick
adapter. Your fingers or hands can be crushed,
fractured, or amputated if they become caught in
the tool head or between the tool head and other
objects.
• Before use, inspect the tool and correct any
problems before using to reduce the risk of
injury and prevent product damage. If during
inspection, hydraulic oil has leaked from the tool or
damage to tool is observed or suspected, do not
use the tool. Large forces are generated during use
that can break or throw parts and cause injury.
1. Remove battery.
2. Clean any oil, grease or dirt from the tool body and
head, including handles and controls. A clean tool
aids inspection.
3. Inspect for wear and damage, such as cracks,
gouges, or chips in tool housing. Do not use if any
parts are worn, corroded, rusted, or cracked.
4. Check the blades for any cracks, gouges, or chips
or significant wear. Replace blades that are dull or
chipped before operating for a clean cut. Do not
sharpen blades, send in for service.
5. Inspect for leaking hydraulic oil. Do not use if lead is
detected, send in for service.
6. Test the rotation of the head assembly, the head
should be free to rotate almost one full turn (330˚). If
head rotates past a full turn, send in for service.
7. Check the hot stick adapter damage and the
presence of wing nut. Replace if adapter is damaged
or wing nut is missing.
8. Check for proper assembly and completeness, do
not use if there are missing or misaligned parts.
9. Check for the presence and condition of decals.
10. Inspect and maintain any other equipment being
used per its' instructions and is functioning properly.
If any issues are found, do not use this tool until
corrected.
