10. MAINTENANCE AND TROuBLESHOOTING
10.1
Instructions for care
X Do not use lubricants or glide agents.
X Ensure that no dirt particles or small items enter the transmission (head inside) (the transmission is open at the head end for
design reasons).
X If the surfaces are soiled, use only residue-free cleaning agents for cleaning.
10.2
Maintenance and care
The following instructions for care depend, if not stated otherwise, strongly on the usage of the weld head.

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
Welding process does not
start.
Weld head does not clamp
correctly on the workpiece.
Continuously large and constantly
different speed deviations.
Arc does not ignite.

ACTIVITY
X Check the hose package and weld head for damage.
X Check the electrode.
X Clean the rotor with acetone.
X Have the power-cooling liquid cable replaced by the Service of Orbitalum Tools GmbH.
POSSIBLE CAuSE
No gas or cooling liquid supply.
Workpiece outside the tolerance range.
Latch tension too low.
Defect at the power source or weld head.
Contact fault between workpiece and
clamping insert.
Workpieces soiled.
Forming gas concentration too low.
Electrode interval too large.
Electrode tip worn.
Contact fault between electrode and rotor.
Cable break.
Conductivity of the cooling liquid too high.
Maintenance and troubleshooting
REMEDY
X Check the connections at the welding
power supply.
X Use adapted clamping inserts.
X Increase the latch tension by using the
adjusting screw (see chap. 8.5, p. 51).
X Contact Service.
X Clean the workpiece and clamping insert.
X Remove insulating intermediate layers.
X Clean the workpiece.
X Check the forming gas supply and forming
gas quantity.
X Set the electrode distance.
X Regrind the electrode
(see chap. 10.4, p. 56).
X Clean the electrode and rotor with acetone.
X Replace the hose package.
X Use only Orbitalum cooling liquid OCL-30.
