▪
Install smoke alarms in narrow corridors or rooms no larger than 1m wide in the middle of the ceiling.
Unsuitable mounting locations for smoke alarms:
▪
Rooms with high humidity, e.g. in the bathroom
▪
Garages or kitchens. In the kitchen should be installed a smoke alarm should only if the distance to the
stove is at least 4m.
▪
Smoke detectors should not be installed near heating, heating, cooling and ventilation shafts.
▪
On ceiling beams that are lager than 0.2m
▪
Near open fires or fireplaces
▪
In very dusty rooms.
▪
On A-shaped roofs, the smoke detector must not be mounted at the highest point.
▪
Rooms which have a room temperature below 5°C or above 40°C.
▪
In caravans or rooms with a low ceiling height. Since the air heats up strongly in the upper area due to, for
example, intensive solar radiation in summer, the smoke is prevented from rising to trigger the alarm of the
smoke detector.
Inserting or changing the batteries (Fig.7):
▪
Remove the mounting plate located on the back of the housing by turning it counterclockwise.
▪
Then insert the batteries supplied into the battery compartment. Please note the correct polarity
▪
Attach the mounting plate to the housing by turning it clockwise.Note: The mounting plate can only be
screwed to the housing when the battery is inserted. This is to prevent the smoke detector from being
mounted without the batteries and thus not being able to function.
▪
Perform a function test after each replacement or new use of the batteries (see chapter "Start up")!
Information on battery life and battery warning signal:
▪
The batteries supplied have a life of approx. one year under normal conditions..
▪
If the batteries become weak, a short warning tone sounds every 40 seconds for approx.30 days and the
LED flashes briefly. During this time, the unit is still fully functional. Replace the batteries immediately! After
30 days, the battery fault signal goes out and the unit switches off.
General instructions for using batteries:
Danger:
Never expose batteries to extreme conditions, such as heat or strong sunlight! There is an acute risk of
explosion and leakage!
Danger:
Make sure that batteries can not be swallowed by children, animals and adults! In particular, keep children
and animals away from this product! If one or more batteries are swallowed, seek medical attention immediately!
Here is an acute danger to life. The substances contained in the battery can cause severe poisoning!
Caution:
Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately! The battery acid contained in the battery can
damage the unit! Avoid direct skin contact with leaking batteries! Wash your hands immediately after contact and
take care that the battery acid does not get into your skin, eyes or mucous membranes! Dispose of leaking and old
batteries according to the regulations.
▪
Replace old batteries with batteries of the same type!
▪
Do not use rechargeable batteries. They have a too low voltage!
