"Technical Data".
•Clamp the piece in a way that its centre of gravity is
on the suction plate.
• Only clamp pieces with even, flat and airtight surfaces.
The use of non-airtight pieces would reduce the clamping
force dramatically.
• The surface of the pieces you want to clamp has to be
clean, dry and free of grease, as otherwise the clamping
force would be reduced.
• Mount the clamp unit on a stable and even support
base.
• Do not expose parts of the human body to the
vacuum.

Use in conformity with expected use
The SVN500 basic model is designed to clamp work pieces
with even, flat and airtight surfaces in combination with
the SVA500 extension module. Any damage or accident
produced by a use different to the anticipated use shall
be the responsibility of the operator.
3. START-UP
3.1 Horizontal clamping start-up
Check the seal is set correctly in the groove (Fig. 1) (B)
before each use of the vacuum clamp. The support base
has to be completely even and flat and it must consist
of an airtight material.
Connect the supplied cable to the gate valve mounted
on the vacuum clamp and to the compressed air supply.
Close the gate valve (Fig. 1) (red clamp=closed; green
clamp=open).
If horizontal gripping is required, shutoff valve (Fig. 1)
(Fig. 5) A should be set to the "OPEN" position (vertical).
Set the vacuum gripping machine in position with the
suction base and the shutoff valve at the top. Next, open
the guide valve (GREEN position). The compressed air
produces vacuum pressure on both sides. The part may
now be placed on the top suction plate by gently pressing
against it. To remove the part just close the valve, which
only cuts off vacuum pressure to the top plate, the bottom
plate remaining fixed to the work surface. To remove the
machine from this surface, cut off the compressed air
supply by using the guide valve. The vacuum pressure
is correct when the needle on the pressure gage (Fig.
6.) reads between -0.6 and -0.7 bars.
If the support base does not offer
enough adherence during operation with
horizontal pieces, the vacuum clamp
can be fastened using bar clamps. (see
figure 4).
3.2 Vertical clamping start-up
Check the seal is set correctly in the groove (Fig. 1) (B)
before each use of the vacuum clamp. Secure the vacuum
gripping machine with two G-clamps on a stable support
base, with the fixing plate equipped with the shutoff valve
facing backwards, as indicated in figure 3. Check that
valve (Fig. 3) A for this plate is closed. Open the guide
valve (GREEN position). The compressed air will produce
a vacuum in the suction plate situated opposite. You can
now place the part to be worked on this suction plate.
To remove the part, just close the guide valve, holding
it by hand to prevent it from falling.
3.3 Clamping small pieces
The suction plates can be divided into sections to grip
small parts. To do this, just place a piece of rubber
seal, included in the standard equipment, in any of the
grooves C (Fig. 1) in the suction plate, taking special
care to ensure the ends of this seal fit tightly with seal
B (Fig. 1) so that a vacuum can be produced.
3.4 Working with the extension module
Check the seal is set correctly in the groove before each
use of the vacuum clamp.
With long and heavy work pieces, an extension module
can be used for a secure support. The connection hose
is connected to the basic module and the extension
module with a quick coupling.
In this case it is also important to separate the suction
plate not being used from the vacuum using a blocking
valve.
3.5 Detaching the work piece
Closing the gate valve (Fig. 1) disconnects the vacuum
and the work piece can be easily removed from the
suction plate.
When detaching the work piece always
raise it slightly so you do not damage the
seal or take it out of the groove.
ADVERTENCIA
Risk of accident
• Always keep the work piece tight before you open
the gate valve.
