INSTALLATION – MOUNTING (CONTINUED)
Use the Unimppt in a well-ventilated room, away from rain and dust. To provide the required air
circulation needed for cooling the solar charge controller, let a 10 cm free space (minimum) all around the
device.
During use, the charge regulator may become hot,
make sure to keep it away from flammable materials.
Always mount the Unimppt regulator vertically
to ensure proper cooling.
Never mount the product horizontally or on a flat
surface.
BATTERY VOLTAGE SELECTION
For Lead Acid Battery (AGM, GEL, LIQUID), UNIMPPT has an automatic voltage detection 12 or 24V. For its
correct functioning, please check:
- If the battery voltage is higher than 8V (required voltage for the startup of the solar charge controller)
- For 24V batteries, the voltage cannot be lower than 18V.
For Lithium, please refer to page 42.
GROUNDING – INSTALLATION CLASS
Battery grounding: The grounding of the battery is often not needed. If you do want to ground, always do
this on the negative pole of the battery.
Controller grounding: For UNIMPPT 100/30.24L and 100/40.24L, you can connect earth to controller on the
side. Cut the plastic to get access to the screw.
Solar PV: positive and negative pole of solar panels connection must not be connected at all to the earth.
Connect only frame on your solar panels to earth to reduce lightning impact.
Protection class: For UNIMPPT 100/30.24L and 100/40.24L, the open circuit voltage of your solar panels is
higher than 75 V (throughout the complete operating temperature range), the whole solar system must be
installed according to the II class of protection.
